Just because it's being studied by scientists doesn't mean that time travel is much different from studying something like Santa's existence. Time travel, I think, is something a lot of people want to believe would work because of many different reasons: historical perspectives, visiting ancestors, religious questions. But in the end it will likely turn out to not be actually possible, no matter how theoretically possible it is.

You may be right and people should be skeptical about something like this but they shouldn't be close minded about it. Not saying you are being close minded just saying people that wouldn't even give this a chance or quantum theory or believe it or not some people don't even think evolution is real.-JoshComment

Re: Time Travel... soon?
First, I think the idea of time travel is something that will never be scientifically achieved. I watched the video read the stuff...still I feel that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense or sound possible to me
However, should it happen, i think it would be a bad thing as opposed to this wonder, great world achievement that people regard it as. As with everything there will be people looking to gain personal benefit and use the new found technology to create massive chaos and anarchy.

Re: Time Travel... soon?
What if time travel will only allow people to see the past, but not live in it?
Sort of like the light traveling from a dead star. We can see the light, but it's source doesn't exist so we can't actually see it's life. We can only see the result."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

That's assuming that everyone would want to travel back and forth when they wanted or that there wouldn't be some kind of regulation on time travel.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

That would be cool, living history lessons. I would like to go back and try to find some long lost civilizations or see if there's some truth to some of the myths of today.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. I think one of the original premises of the scientist's idea is that you need a time machine to travel back to. So.. your point would be valid, under this idea, if we had a time machine, and no one ever came through.Originally Posted by Briman123

Re: Time Travel... soon?
Don't remember where I read this but there was some physicist by the name of Hynek I think. He was hired by the military in the 60's to debunk UFO sightings that started to become rampant then. He was a staunch non-believer in aliens landing from another planet but near the end of his life after seeing enough evidence that couldn't be explained he still thought that it was virtually impossible for aliens to visit from distant galaxies but thoerized that whatever sightings that seemed concrete was much more likely to originate from beings visiting from our distant future. This would explain why there is never an attempt by these beings to contact or interact with anyone and are simply observing things because any interaction may alter thier present world. This would answer any criticism by people who say UFO's are fake because why would aliens travels billions of miles simply to fly around a bit and go back. Kinda makes sense to me.
This doesn't agree with the dual time machine thoery but thousands(or even millions) of years from now who knows what humans will look like and what advancements they've made. It's hard to believe but it still makes you think.Comment
