Re: Any unknown/unsigned bands you guys like?

Going back to my first post, here is a video of Octane performing acoustically on the streets of NYC for the Opie & Anthony radio show.

**Warning, it was from the XM portion of the show, so Anthony and Joe Rogan get foul mouthed at the very end of the clip once the song is done**

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oIpJ6KXyJSE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oIpJ6KXyJSE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Needless to say, O&A are taking these guys seriously and are trying to get them some good play time on XM Radio. The last time they had a chance to break a band into the limelight, they blew it big time. Sully from Godsmack would go on their show before Godsmack really even existed just to hang out, and the one day he gave them a demo tape for his new project titled "Godsmack" and Opie tossed it into a river because he was tired of listening to all the demo tapes people gave him (seen as how it was a rock station). And because of that, the nighttime guy at the station gets a lot of the credit for "discovering" them.

Thumbs up to the Hourcast recommendation.

I'm going to recommend a band called Faktion. They've got one album out and I really like it.

Check out in:aviate. Theyre really good. Another band that I really like, but is actually gaining some popularity is The Human Abstract.

Absolution Project - An indy rock band from Rochester, NY. More of a harder sound than some of the bands that have been posted in this thread, but I like them.

RED - Christian rock band that has a decent sized following from what I can gather, but they may not get the exposure being a Christian band. Not bad though.

Evans Blue - A Canadian band that also has something in the way of a following already, but I've never heard of them. I really like their sound from what I've heard so far. Kinda Breaking Benjamin-ish

Era For a Moment - Another small rock band from Massachusetts (no surprise there). They have a female lead singer, so imagine Evanesence, but more rock and less "pretty sounding but dark music"

Re: Any unknown/unsigned bands you guys like?

One of my good friends growing up had an older brother who was in a rock band. We used to go to all of their shows in the Charlotte area...anytime we could make it. The band is called Black Plastic. They billed themselves as an experimental/alternative/psychedelic type of band.

They broke up some time ago, but the old lead singer just recently created a myspace page and put some of their songs up there. If you'd like to check it out, it's right here:

Adam Russell (blackplastic)'s profile on Myspace, the place where people come to connect, discover, and share.

Here's a video of the band I mentioned, Black Plastic, from a show they played back in 1994. The song is called "Black Market Surgeons" and yes...I'm in the group of people in the mosh pit right by the stage...

                              Learn to love them!

If you ever hear the songs Bedroom Light, Papercuts, With One Wish, or You Told Me, and if you like that kind of music... you will love this band. Perhaps my new favorite band. I can't find anywhere where I can get their first album, though.

One more indie band for you guys (I find them, listen to them, and then if i approve I post on here):

Tupelo Honey - Rock band from Edmonton. A bit on the cookie-cutter side of things, but its good music nonetheless. Apparently they have been doing a few dates with Three Days Grace which is very nice for them
