    Real 'quality' television...

I can't believe so many of you fellas love '24'.

I mean, the show is okay...but i've seen people say "best tv show ever" etc.

The acting is attrocious. Kiefer aside, the charachters are like walking wax dummies spitting out cliche after cliche...

    The plots are beyond ridiculous.

If people really want quality...try 'Wire in the Blood'.

    Seriously well written...brilliant acting...

Best TV show for a long, long time.

I'm sure you're post is going to sway EVERY watcher of "24".

Why do peoople do this? They have to knock something else before they put forth what they think is good.
It's getting really, really old. With everything.

I don't watch very many tv shows. I'm happy watching the old flicks on TCM

I think it makes them feel good....or something like that.

Personally I love 24. It's one of my favorite TV shows. However, I also realize that not everyone is the same and it takes different strokes for different folks.

No...it's because people use words like "serious drama" and "quality" when it's clearly not. It's "turn your brain off" entertainment. That's what I like about it.

I am not 'knocking' it. I like the show.

What I am saying is that if people "really" want serious drama...try a show like 'Wire in the Blood'.

It is serious drama. The acting and plots are sublime. Watch both shows back to back, as I have been doing, and it's not even remotely debatable.

I'm betting that most people have never even seen 'Wire in the Blood'.

If not, try it. If people want to spit out "serious drama", then watch some real quality stuff.

Any UK posters here will know exactly what I mean...

As I said - different strokes for different folks. What is quality to you, might not be quality to someone else.

I think Basketball is a horrible sport and it's like pulling out fingernails watching an NBA game. I think baseball is a great sport that shows a beautiful chess match between the pitcher and batter. Does that mean baseball is better than basketball? Not really. Just depends on the person.

TV = Boobtube. There is no such creation as Quality Television.

I watch either sports, movies or the news.

              TV is terrible now.

no kidding. I have no urge to check out this show he's talking about due to his delivery. If it's really good, maybe someone else will recommend it.

TV has been terrible for the last oh 8 or so years Personally i've been a fan of family sitcoms and the sitcom format has just bombed big time. The genre really needs another Bill Cosby to save it.

Quality tv? Laughable. Between the 4,000 channels out there and the 7 million sitcoms, dramas and reality shows, everyone can find what their looking for.

And I'm sorry...but the scene between Jack and Chapelle in season 3 may be one of the more drama-filled scenes I've ever seen in a TV show.

But Mj said, what I think is "quality TV" doesn't have to be what you think is "quality TV"

I'll beg to differ. TV is better now than it's been since the mid-70s and early 80s.

TV in the late 80s, the 90s and early 00s was HORRIBLE, with a few exceptions. Every comedy was a bad "Seinfeld" ripoff or a "regular guy" series like "Everybody Loves Raymond," and then the scourge of reality TV hit.

Now we have quality dramas and comedies all over the dial, and the grip of reality TV seems to be loosening a touch.

The comedies of today can't touch the Golden Age of the 70s -- "M*A*S*H*," "All in the Family," "The Jeffersons," "Good Times," "Alice," "Sanford and Son," etc. -- and I loved the nighttime soaps of the 80s such as "Dallas," "Dynasty" and "Knots Landing," but there is some quality free and cable TV on today. Something for everyone.

                          Take care,
                          PK
