Re: Real 'quality' television...
Yeah...it's funny that. I travel and live a lot around various parts of the world and I always find Brits, Aussies (me) and Canadians have tonnes in common / get on instantly.
Americans tend to not mix so well / have less in common. Not sure why that is.Comment

Because Americans are just too cool for the rest of the world, duh!

Re: Real 'quality' television...
Just looked though this thread. I think you went about this the wrong way. Why didn't you just create a thread titled, "Has anybody seen 'Wire in the blood". And in that thread introduce to us a show in which we probably haven't seen because it doesn't air in the states. I'm always up for new content and i'm sure some of us would have looked into it.
Instead, you make a statement that comes off as, "This show is the TRUTH, everything else is sh!t". Basically alienating the same people you wanted to put on to the show. If you don't like 24 that's fine. Everyone will have their own opinion on what they think is good. But you don't have to bash another show just to hype one that you like.Today I realized something. Re: Real 'quality' television...
Well firsoff I'd edit that post if I were you, or your going to be getting in some trouble for posting spoilers, not to mention pissing a lot of people off.
And quit preaching to everyone. If you like some show that a lot of people here don't know about, and you want to recommend it, than just do that. No need to come in here trying to talk down to everyone acting like your opinion is gospel.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

And it's TV we are talking about here mate...TV.
This is not law and order...religion...politics.
It's TV.
I can't imagine anyone being so sensitive as to be genuinely offended by my blunt assesment of their fav tv show.

Re: Real 'quality' television...
The Wire actually presents the drug dealers as very smart, organized people. The police can just about never catch up to every new thing that they do to throw them off. And in the second season, Herc(one of the cops) even said that the white drug dealers were the idiots after dealing with the dudes in baltimore.Overanalyzing, as usual. The reason why I didnt like it is because not all dope dealers, users and so called thugs are that stupid.
Since Im at work, I ask a couple of co-workers, "Whats The Wire all about?"
Responses are:
Woman - "TV show where they show police setting up dope dealers and crooked cops shaking down the dealers."
Black guy - "I hate that show, they are always showing the black dope dealers/thugs being the stupid ones!!"
Filipino - "Man, The Wire is the ish, them fools be getting caught up, informants are all around in there."

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Real 'quality' television...
How can it not be beyond ridiculous? How many people do you know that have ever faced so much danger in a 24 hour period? I like the show, but it's certainly far fetched to say the least.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Real 'quality' television...
The premise is far-fetched, yes, but 95% of the stuff in the show could actually happen. All in one day? No, but most of the things that happen could theoretically happen. Especially this season, apparently. Every interview with keifer, and producers/writers/directors say it's one of the most "real" seasons yet.Comment
