    Re: What are you reading?

"Amazonia" by James Rollins right now. I'm a sucker for adventure/action books. Great summer type read, despite it being winter.

I'm thinking about picking up the Bourne series after I finish Amazonia. I just recently bought and watched Identity/Supremacy, and loved them. And as they say, the book is always better than the movie.

I'm also thinking of re-reading "MEG" by Steve Alten. My favorite book. I LOVE stories and accounts of pre-historic creatures, and this puts the pre-historic into our world when a 60 foot Megaladon shark surfaces. Very fun, fast paced read. The two sequels, "The Trench" and "MEG: Primal Waters" are also great summer reads. Also, if anyone is interested, MEG is being made into a movie supposedly next year.

I read The Blind Side over Christmas break, and it's a good book. I'd probably take Moneyball over it if I had to choose but it's still really good.

In case you were unaware, Jim Stewart is our own Jim416. He can mostly be found socializing in our many baseball forums. While The Ghosts of Vietname isn't your typical war story, it is a very moving tale about a man struggling to find his place in our world, before, during, and after the war. I loved every minute of it, couldn't put it down, and was finished with it in 3 days. I also found out that Jim grew up just 10 miles from my hometown. Small world.
I totally agree it is a great book. I enjoy it and it is cool nothing the Author too.

I read it awhile ago when I was in middle school but I'm reading it again and I'm going to write a paper on it.

Just finished "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt and "One more day" by Mitch Albom.

If people are baseball fans check out "Clemente" by David Mariness. Great, great book.

Read Jim's book last year...It is an amazing read guys. It gives a different perspective on war; something that people like me, who never served, should see.

Power and Imagination: City-States in Renaissance Italy. Can't say I'd recommend it.

It was good. Someone got it for me b/c I am a teacher. I totally related to all of the teaching stories and his struggles in the classroom. There are few times when he flashes back to his childhood that are a little slow (b/c we heard about it Angela's Ashes--so those parts were a bit too familiar).

Overall, it was a solid read. Funny at times, close to home at times. I think most people would like it. Let me know how you like it when you finish.

Yeah, my mom bought it for me for Christmas because I'm going to college to be a high school teacher, so she thought I'd really like it.

I'll probably start this weekend, I'll let you know when I'm done.
