Don't need to defend anything, I was just making an observation.

Expected this, don't get me wrong. Same thing happened with the "Best images in sports history" thread, so this isn't much different at all.

Surprisingly Ali was only a 3-1 underdog against Foreman, but was a 7-1 dog in the first Liston fight (1964). What do you mean the most "likely" uoset in sports?

There are so many "best moments," it just depends on what sports you like, what teams you like, etc.

As far as most significant moments, that might be a little easier to compile. My top two most significant moments would be 1. Jackie Robinson- no explanation needed 2. Jesse Owens, 1936 Berlin Olympics- dominated like no one had ever done before, and in Hitlers backyard.

I think the breaking down or challenging of the racial barriers have made for some of the most compelling moments in sports. Jack Johnson and Ali come to mind. Great PBS Jack Johnson special for those who haven't seen it:

Interestingly enough, all the old sports writers at the Liston fight realized Ali could win after the first round. Liston was not the most well conditioned boxer because most of his fights were 1 round affairs.

Of course, Liston tried cheating by putting a foreign substance on his gloves to burn and blind Ali. At one point Ali told his trainers to stop the fight but they kept going. At the end of the night EVERYBODY loved Ali....That is until he announced he was no longer Cassius Clay and that people should call him Muhammed Ali.

Yeah, it was beautiful the way a blinded Ali still couldn't get hit with any meaningful Liston punch. At that point Liston knew he was beat.

Is the PK Sam catch the one where he ran out of the end zone a dog nearly bit him? That might have been someone else, but I distinctly remember someone catching a pass that game and a police dog almost biting him.
