I'd be surprised if they didn't. They're probably seeing what little they can cut to get it down to a borderline "R" rating.

One movie, directed by Tarantino, is about a bad guy (Kurt Russell) who uses his car to kill women.

The other movie, directed by Rodriguez, stars Rose Mcgowan- the one with the machine gun leg.. is about zombies.

Apparently back in the day of the Grindhouse.. there were fake trailers to fake movies.. so I guess they wanted to do the same thing for the newest Grindhouse and have fake trailers- like Thanksgiving.

        Re: Grindhouse (Tarantino & Rodriguez)

I saw a screening for this movie on Friday.

My warning is that you have to like Rodriguez and Tarantino to like these two films.

"Planet Terror" is typical Rodriguez. Over-the-top explosions, gun shots, everything. If you've seen his movies then you know that many people will die unrealistic deaths that might include flying 20 feet in the air after being shot by a shot gun. It's crazy, but it's fun.

"Death Proof" is classic Tarantino. Long, long dialogue that appears to reveal absolutely nothing to the plot, but eventually ties in to the action that hits the end of the flick. It also includes a really long opening scene that introduces the antagonist (Kurt Russell). It's slow paced in the beginning and intense at the end.

I think for what they are the movies are a lot of fun. I would never say, "Best movies ever made!", but sometimes you need to have fun movies that you can just sit back and enjoy - if you can learn to understand the unrealistic situations and results.

People were laughing during the screenings for no reason, though. You'd see Bruce Willis and people would laugh. I don't know what made him funny. Maybe it's something about the way he was introduced that makes it like a typical grind house movie?

Also, the editing mistakes and continuity issues are fun. They are purposely done to create that grindhouse movie effect.

The trailers were also just as fun and actually more gory than the films. I think some of them would actually work if grind house theaters were still around.

There are two before the movie starts.

And two or three during intermission. I can't remember exactly, but I know it's at least four in total.

Kurt Russell was on Leno tonight promoting the movie. Dude is freakin cool. He spoke on how much Tarantino loves his movies, especially Escape from New York. They showed a brief clip of Russell's character picking up a woman and about to scare the bejesus out of her. Good stuff.

Feast is great, it's not a Grindhouse style movie, that was a Project Greenlight movie.

That's Cool. Pretty good for a greenlight film.

Yeah that was crazy! It was good to see the old bartender being played by Clu Gulager who played 'Burt' - the cemetary owner in Return of The Living Dead which is a classic IMO.

                              Saw it yesterday.

***SPOILERS - Well...not big spoilers, just stuff that is funny***

IMO, Planet Terror was the better of the two, and I hate zombie movies. A ton of action, and a ton of gore. Like, extreme gore. And then there's the funny parts, like the random kung-fu scenes and Freddy Rodriguez riding a pocketbike while killing off zombies, and its a damn good movie.

Death Proof was a bit slower, which should be expected out of Tarantino since there's more dialogue. Kurt Russell does a damn good job as the villian, including those cheesy 1970's "look at the camera and laugh" scenes. And his car is pretty damn badass.

But without a doubt, the best part of the movie were the trailers for the fake movies. There's one called "Hobo with a Shotgun" that's only shown in the Canadian theaters, and its probably the funniest one. Here's the link (note: there's a ton of swearing in it): http://www.devilducky.com/media/58566/

There's four more I believe, and all four of them are awesome. The best one is called "Machete" with Danny Trejo. Apparently that's actually coming out as a movie. The other ones are all funny.

Overall, I give Planet Terror an A, Death Proof a B+ and the trailers an A+++, which I believe averages out to about an A+. If it wasn't 3 hours long and I had money to blow on $10 movie tickets, I'd see it again.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head, really enjoyed Planet Terror, felt like Death Proof drug on a little too much but once it got going was pretty good and the trailers were awesome, the whole project was just well put together, I dont want to point too much out and spoil it for others but it was a great time.
