Why must there be a motive all of the time? The one thing that I have figured out in my days is that people aren't smart enough to be behind these great conspiracies that everyone seems to drum up.
Because if you were paying attention, accepting some of the items in your statement above, assuming one agreed with them, which many don't, would allow for the successful promotion of many governmental programs which affect all of our lives. There most certainly is a motive and if you are not aware of that then you're either naive or do not follow the news much.

With all that being said I do agree we should all try to do a better job of taking care of the planet. People should not litter, should try to give back to the environment in some fashion and try not to be overly wasteful of resources. But that is entirely different than the global warming issue.

      That's what I've been wondering.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Or about for the simple fact that even if Global Warming is a myth, how about we clean up the planet so there isn't a thick layer of smog every time the weather gets above 80 degrees and elderly people and people with breathing problems can actually go outside. Seems like right there is a good enough reason to clean everything up.

I am not naive, I simply don't give the powers that be the credit you and some others on this board seem to. I have met and worked with several politicians; some currently in Washington. Most are what I would call 'C' students, not capable of the global conspiracies that many would claim.

Also, if you know science, you know that there is never a consensus on anything, ever. There are many scientists who believe that global warming is caused by humans who have nothing to gain from their opinion. There are scientists on the other side of the fence who have nothing to gain from their opinion. Taking that into account, couldn't this be, for the most part, a simple case of one side believes one thing while the other side believes another (with a very few in it for personal gain; and I mean a very few)?

And while we are talking global conspiracies, let's not forget one thing. The man at the head of all of this, Al Gore, was a member of the administration who couldn't keep the fact that the President got head from his secretary under wraps. You really believe that he is (with help from others) deceiving the world with this 'swindle'? Give me a friggin break.

Amen to that. It seems that too many here prescribe to the theory that: if we didn't break it, we aren't going to fix it.

Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle

Yea, maybe Global Warming is real, maybe not. Guess what it doesn't matter either way. We should still do everything possible and reasonable to help keep our planet and environment clean. I live in the mountains and it just kills me every time I visit a big city and see the tons upon tons of trash littered everywhere, and the incredibly thick unclean air. Why should we not want to do something about that? Also for the people who say humans cannot have any affect on the planet because its too big. Yeah right, tell that to the multitudes of species that we have personally extinct or almost extinct due to deforestation. Also tell that to all the people with severe Asthma who cannot even go outside on some days because the air is too unclean. Again Global Warming or not, thats not what I'm concerned with at all, I am concerned with how filthy we allow ourselves to live and not give a damn about it.

Hey....you may have just stumbled on a new theory! Maybe it was the (probable) vast number of times that Monica DID give Bill head as contributing to global warming. After all....that's a great amount of accumulated friction! I guess we'll have to wait for the Power Point presentation on that one. Hmmm.....maybe Monica saw that big carbon foot print of Slick Willy and thought she had something there! You know what they say about guys with big carbon feet?

Actually, though, you just explained it without realizing it. It's the stupidity of Al Gore (remember, Mr. "I invented the internet"?) that would have him naively think that he could benefit from this financially without question. Silly Al.

Guys, I'm locking this one up. It's become too political IMO in the last few posts.... Probably should have locked it before, but hindsight is 20/20.
