Re: Apple Mac Lovers
Macs are Superb. I wanted to "try one out" back in 2002. OS 10.2 on a shiny new 1Ghz iMac G4. Would be something to learn from but I would never switch from XP.
Fast forward 5 years. I'm typing this on my Quad 2.66 Mac Pro with a 23" and 30" ACD display. My macbook pro is to my right. My wife's mac mini and macbook to my left.
99% of my family has switched with the final holdout getting a new Mac soon. Over 30 Macs sold. People who would constantly bring me a windows box to fix, I now only hear how it just works.
Leopard will be a solid release and will make your Mac faster. $129 in October. It always strikes me how Apple streamlines their OS releases and the major releases get faster, while Windows Vista will make a fine XP machine feel like a PII 400.Comment

Re: Apple Mac Lovers
I'm digging this thread up, because I am seriously thinking about a MacBook. I need a new laptop. I've wanted to try Mac for years, and I love the macBook design, as it's just what I'm looking for - small, light, and very portable. I also would like to have access to a Mac to look at sites I am working on to ensure cross-platform compatibility.
I am probably going to hold off until I can get a MacBook with Leopard, or at least some sort of upgrade deal.
Anyways ...
My big concern is that I run a windows environment here. Is it going to be a pain in the *** to integrate a Mac into my network? In terms of accessing windows network shares, or printing to a XP-hosted network printer?5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

I'd never tried it before, but was a piece of cake. I'll have to remember that if I want to transfer stuff, since I work at home twice a week.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I have never tried to integrate my mac into a windows network, but I would think there would not be too many problems doing this....
Second, you can still run windows on your mac, either using Boot Camp or Parallels. I have Vista running on parallels, and XP running on Boot Camp on my macbook pro.Comment

Yeah - that's what I'm thinking. With a new OS on the horizion, they need to clear stock, and make sure people don't keep putting off the purchase.5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

Re: Apple Mac Lovers
Its very easy for me to look at windows shares on my home network from my macbook. Finder automatically finds all the folders that i have shared. All i have to do is mount them. I also have a 500 GB portable hard drive hooked up to my dell and my mac book can even access that over the network.Comment
