Oh, we'll definitely have to suck it up and it's fine...I'm just saying that in the consumer's minds it doesn't look good when they spend so much on an iPhone and plan and can't use it...If Microsoft had the same issues they'd be getting slaughtered by everyone here, Apple deserves the same.

They've had iPhone and iPod firmware updates before, they should have anticipated this. They know how many iPhones are currently out there, how many are out for sale, etc...If they don't think it can handle it then roll out some sort of launch. I'd rather wait knowing I have to wait than have this debacle. You think Steve Jobs is happy his company's software issues are on the front page of all the tech blogs?

Hell, at my work we had a huge release with issues, and our customers bitched. They didn't come at us with "Oh, well, it was a big thing, we'll cut you slack"...it was "Why isn't this working right? We want it now". It's the nature of business, if you want to be all "cut them slack, it doesn't work, let's be happy and hug" then the world of business isn't for you.

Plus if we don't voice our displeasure then Apple will bend us over and fark us without lube...look at the price drop, they weren't going to cut anyone a deal until people complained and only THEN did everyone get credit.

They had the same problems if now worse last year on the first release.


I think the internet community KNOWS that heavy usage can take down any site. Think about the exposure of busy website in the daily internet life.

I think they are reasonable. If it's not cleared up in 24 hours, then Apple will get it. The same thing happened where a few could not get activated within 24 hours. There were still a few that were down 48 hours into it.

People are reasonable to give it some time but longer than that Apple will hear the cries of frustration.

I'm giving it time...I just think they could have released the firmware 2 days ago, or 2 days from now for existing users, rather than suicide themselves on release day...This is just the worst possible result, having everyone talking about your problems rather than your product.

People know heavy usage takes down sites, but having a site down is inexcusable in the internet world. Amazon being down for a minute loses them millions. It's a large company's responsibility to anticipate and react, it's not like Apple and AT&T are small companies...

I highly doubt this is how Steve Jobs wanted his 2nd release to go, so I just wonder what went wrong...I'll shut up about it, I guess I'll just assume from now on that Apple cannot launch a new version of something without fatal flaws....

Plus you guys know if Zune released with these issues everyone here would be all "ZOMG Microsoft sucks! Look, they can't release a music player LOLZ". I know I go against the grain whenever I'm critical of how Apple does things...It's just amusing how Apple gets more of a free pass compared to Microsoft just because people dislike MS and fight over the inside spoon position on Apple.

I've got a ton of free ones, only ones I have paid for so far is Paper Football (couldn't resist) and the MLB app, which is insanely awesome.

As for the free apps, I have..

I can't remember if this link was posted or not before, but if you have DirecTV and one of their DVRs (not a DirecTiVo) you can remote schedule programs over the web. No configurations necessary.

Just use DirecTV's mobile site @ http://m.directv.com

Everything else is self-explanatory when you sign in.

I got to the ATT store 45 minutes before they opened and ended up getting the last one. After some frustration getting the thing activated (more than 50 unplugs and plug-ins) it finally went through. Holy smokes is this thing cool as hell. I never had the first one so this thing is pretty much blowing me away. Thanks for the tips on some free apps guys. I dig the Shazam and SportsTap ones. As payback I'll suggest checking out the free game Aurora Feint. It's a surprisingly good game considering the cost and it reminds me of Puzzle Quest.

Edit: For those that check out Aurora Feing go in knowing that you can only slide pieces side-to-sid but the game also used the accelorometer where you can flip the phone on it's side and slide pieces that way and also speed up the blocks.

Shazam is pretty cool. There is another called "midomi" too where you can hum a song and it will tell you the info.

I have the AOL radio app d/l'ed but it wont play any songs, it just says "Stopped"
