She got caught driving drunk and caught twice driving without a license, while knowing the penalty. It's not like the 45 days came out of nowhere, she knew what could happen. Of course she thinks that she's above the law.

you're in Texas, she's in California.
I would have bet that Texas has a more stringent judicial system than California does, but i guess i might be wrong. Those California judges dont play (at least one judge doesnt).

Yeah I guess her breaking the law three times and having to accept punishment is going overboard. She's lucky that she's able to be in a private cell and was let out due to her not liking the food and crying alot. Please show me anyone who has been allowed to leave just because they don't like jail. She's even having her lawyer appeal this, it's ridiculous. If her and her parents wouldn't have made a big deal about it then all of this wouldn't have been necessary.

actually, my reckless driving was over a decade ago. I was 18. the laws might have become more strict since then

but the sentence they gave Paris does seem excessive imo. When sentencing, circumstances, severity of the crime and such are supposed to be taken into account.

As for being 10 minutes late, do you have any idea how busy the courts can be? Then take into account that this is Los Angeles and this isn't some pretend Paris Hilton court, this is the same court the crack addicts and hookers doing the same thing will be at. So yeah being 10 minutes late causes a severe inconvenience to the court, especially given she had no good excuse, she was just late.

If i wouldnt have shown up for my court date and paid my fine, i probably would have had another fine added onto it and a warrant issued but the warrant would have been rescinded after i paid my failure to appear fine (btw Paris appeared at her court hearing, she was just late).
First I wanna point out how fascinating it is the way "she was just late" can be used in a sentence if you look at the last sentence of my post and that quote.

Now to respond, when you are on probation you are being given a second chance. When anyone, sans a celebrity or star athlete (ex. Willie Williams), violates probation they will likely being sent to prison. Judges tend to take you violating probation a little personally. They took the chance on you by giving you probation, when you violate that probation you are biting the hand that feeds you. She not only did that, but she then showed the court the disrespect of showing up late. And then on top of that she weasels her way out of prison, where she was directed to go by the judge explicitly. So on top of probation violation and disrespect to the court, she aids in the direct violation of the judge's orders. You are right, 45 days is completely unfair, the sentence should be significantly longer for the disrespect to the court, and in particular this one judge.

It said in her probation that she could get up to 45 days, which somehow mysteriously got cut to 23 days for good behavior despite her not even being in jail and coming to court late. She's getting all that she deserves. I really don't see how someone can defend her. She hasn't even accepted responsibility for driving without her license. She continues to blame anyone she can for what she did.

As superficial as it may have been, at least that would have shown some level of responsibility for ones actions. As such, Paris Hilton is completely incapable of attempting such a feat.

she got no DUI. the charge was reckless driving (misdemeanor) and she got her license suspended i believe. she was stopped driving without a license and then was late to court (but she did appear) and the judge went overboard with the sentencing because he wanted to make an example of her.

i dont know about all of that and the situations as to why they let her out early...but i have a buddy that works for the sherriff's department. They let people out for overcrowding all of the time. they prioritize by what prisoners have the least chargers and and the least amount of time to serve and those are the prisoners that they let out first.

anyway, i dont think they let her out for overcrowding but i would bet Paris probably has the least severe charges of anyone in that prison.
