People like you are getting joy out of seeing a privileged rich person getting more jail time than a normal person like you and me. You are proving my point that she is being made an example of.

but after all of that, she is still a person. and she is a person that has probably never even been to court before this, much less jail. They are making an example out of her although she had no prior history before all of this. They are making an example of her because of the public out cry from people like you. Its BS
Ok please tell me why you feel sorry for her when she knew prior to her violate probation that she could get 45 days in prison? Now most people with common sense would be happy getting away with a DUI and getting it reduced, most people would be thanking God for letting them have the fortune of not going to jail after violating probation once, and most people would know to not tempt fate by violating probation again. Of course, I guess her being the poor privileged person that she is she never got taught that breaking the law means that you could go to jail. This sentence wasn't something that just got sprung on her, she knew full well what would happen but she decided to ignore it.

She didn't have a history prior to her first charge but since she was charged and recieved probation, that means that she has a prior history. Of course, go ahead and ignore the facts and blame me for being mean.

its crazy that they are going to hold her for 40 days in LA county for that charge. If i got that charge here in Travis county (not quite as full as freakin LA county obviously), i doubt i would do more than a few days in jail at the most (but i probably wouldnt do any).
She violated probation TWICE, she isn't going to jail just for driving under the influence(even though she should).

it was until it was reduced to reckless driving. She failed a sobriety test. Of course her lawyer said it was because she didn't eat anything all day.

She subsequently got caught driving with a suspended license (another offense).
you obviously know more about it than me.

but it seems like BS imo. Ive had a reckless driving in a far more dangerous way than her, and i know a crapload of people that have had DUIs and violated deferred judication, and i dont know anyone who has been sentenced to that much time or been summoned back like that after the sherriff's department made their decision that they thought was best. The judge overrode the sherriff's department and did the grand standing mainly because of the media attention

There's nothing wrong with her sentence, it's the handling of it that is completely screwed up.
i agree. It's not right to make someone into a football to use, and to make such an example out of them. I dont care how rich they are.

Just to let everyone know just how ridiculous this is....

My Grandma commented on how worthless Paris Hilton is and how sick she is of the coverage. Yes, my 67 year old Grandma, who barely speaks English.

The terms of her probation said that if she drove she could get 45 days, she violated her probation twice and got sentenced to the amount of time that was stated. She is not being made an example.

I have had reckless too. Twice as a matter of fact. Anyway, I was put on probation for multiple tickets over a 3 year span. The judge told me if I got one ticket while driving on probation I would go to jail.

What I don't understand is how someone who has had favorable treatment all the way up to being sent to jail is somehow being made an example. She knew going in what would happen if she drove and she two chances. And another thing, if the judge is trying to make an example of her, why didn't he put her in jail when she first violated probation?

i got a reckless driving when i was 18 for throwing a bottle at another car and then driving 160 mph on the way down to South Padre Island and I didnt even do a night in jail. They took me in but i paid my fine and they let me go.

i seriously doubt that you would have been thrown in jail for getting another ticket while on deferrred judication. If you would have gotten jail time, it certainly wouldnt have been 40 days. and you certainly wouldnt have been summoned back to jail after the sherriff department made the decision to release you. When judges start overruling people like that, grandstanding and power tripping like that, then the justice system will be even more messed up than it already is.

THANK YOU! I was just about to post that. I haven't really followed the thread, only the last few pages, and I did not understand why someone in the thread kept stating that she was sentenced to jail time for reckless driving.
