Whoever said Akon sucks and is overplayed earlier in this thread is voicing my opinion as well.

Don't Matter is the worst song ever, how can it be so popular!?!?!

Whatever is popular with younger people is always going to get overplayed until everyoen is sick of it. I actually like Nickleback as well but they are overplayed. I saw them when they first came out big with How You Remind me at the Rolling Rock Festival in Latrobe and they were good live back then.

I also remember one time when i was in High School my buddy and I were up playing games on my Tandy 1000 HX all night and one of the Local Radio Stations played this song by Bobbie Brown and Glenn Mederous, i think it was called "The Girls Nothin But Trouble", about 14 times in 10 hours.

Everytime the song came on a gain we couldn't believe they were playing it again. My point is they've been doing this forever not just since Sirius and XM.

I hate statements like this. Everyone thumbing their nose down at some people that like another band. I dig Opeth, and I am Nickelback fan. People like music that they like. Doesn't mean that their music tastes suck. That's one thing I love about music everyone likes different sets of music, and music is one thing that brings us together.

Sure but I mean c'mon it's Nickelback!! (Joking, sort of..)

I know people like all different types of music and so forth, and I don't care, most my friends like country, pop, or rap. I don't mind it whatsoever. I just, personally, don't see how you can like and appreciate a band like Opeth and then even tolerate Nickelback. It will never make sense to me. I guess I 'm looking at it from a musicianship standpoint. Opeth's music is brilliantly orchestrated and thoughtful. Nickelback is so simple and regurgitated...

So I guess I'll retract my statement as far what a Nickelback fan would appreciate, since you have proven me wrong. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm not saying everyone has to be on the level of Opeth as far as composition. But, I can only appreciate a band that has talent..

In another thread I saw, someone said you were banned..haha

Oh well I like them and Creed. They have a good sound and I can care less that they have all their songs sound the same. I don't listen to music to critic it, I listen to what I like even if they all sound the same.

                        Re: Nickelback=Most overplayed Band Ever.

One of the local shows on WBCN 104.1 in Boston, Toucher and Rich, have a segment called "Do you know your butt rock?"

They get a caller on the phone and play a 5 second clip of butt rock, and give the listener a choice of 4 bands (Nickelback! Hinder! Daughtry! Some other terrible band!)

Most of the listeners can't differentiate the songs at all, because all butt rock sounds the same. There's the opening crappy acoustic guitar combined with whiny singing, then the big drums kick in, followed by generic whiny lyrics, and always one note ridiculously out of key.

All this music literally follows a formula for creating a song. This is not music, this is not originality or creativity. This is butt rock. If you enjoy any butt rock, you might want to consider ending yourself..

Its not the fact that people like Nickelback that really makes me wonder, its the fact that people settle on Nickelback knowing that all their music sounds the same when there are a lot of other bands out there that are far superior to them.

It is a combination of lazyiness and ignorance mostly. Some people really do enjoy a band like Nickelback, no problem with that, if you actually enjoy it then have a blast listening to it, that doesn't bother me. Most people are too lazy to look for bands that aren't on the radio. People who really latch onto anything that pops up on mainstream radio that is different(such as Modest Mouse a few years ago and The White Stripes), they go crazy when htey hear something different from normal mainstream rock music, but they are still too lazy to look any further than what they hear on their FM station. Then there are people who are really annoying and think that bands that don't get radio play don't get it because they aren't as good. "If they were any good, they would be on the radio...." is the worst argument ever and I've heard it more times than I can remember.

I'm not big on Nickleback but I get pumped up everytime I hear their cover of Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting ) on HNIC.
