I agree. He was a little bit too "holier than thou". He seemed to have a superiority complex. I didn't mind him when Rob Dibble was on the show. They were like the odd couple and Dibs would keep the show real (although I doubt I could stomach him as the lead personality). Once Dibble left, his overly slick personality was more than I could take.

I do like Mike & Mike but I hate the fact the show has too little content sometimes. With three updates and commercial breaks all the time, you really only get 30 minutes every hour and they waste a lot of that sometimes on trivial stuff like News of the Weird (ie. groin joke in the paper). I was so ticked when Peter Gammons was coming on one time and they wasted 5 minutes of his segment on something stupid. They need to have segments go longer than 10 minutes and they need to go to 30 minute updates.

Not a bad idea actually. If Cubs games or Braves games could be broadcasted nationally, I imagine Yankees games could be as well. I just wish these leagues like the NBA and MLB didn't sell out to ESPN. I hate ESPN and yet I have to watch it for major NCAA football and basketball, NBA, NFL, or baseball games. ESPN has such a monopoly over sport's viewers that leagues can be negatively or positively impacted just by ESPN's decision to broadcast their games. See NHL.

According to this blog the new host may be Mike Tirico. It also reports that Patrick may go to Sporting News Radio. (which is tons better then ESPN radio IMO)

I like Tirico but I can't see him hosting a radio show. His style just doesn't seem to fit the medium.

I hated his radio show. Everytime a topic that he knew little to nothing about was brought up, he automatically assumed the player, team, or whatever was being discussed, sucked.

            The NHL ruined themselves.

Interesting... Dan Patrick to Sporting News Radio? I've usually seen it work the other way around, where someone leaves Sporting News for ESPN, like Jeff Rickard, who used to host the midday show on Sporting News Radio, and then moved to ESPN Radio, where he is now teamed with Freddie Coleman on GameNight.

I agree with you about Tirico, something about him doesn't seem to translate to radio.

Living in Ann Arbor, a Detroit sports station would have him as a guest weekly or so, and he was always great to listen to there. It'd be great to give him a shot, he seems like a really great guy/commentator. Just hate Patrick's smarmy, i'm better than you type attitude.

I've owned my Sirius Radio for almost one year and after giving ESPN Radio a chance for the first few weeks, I have not listened to it since. It is just unlistenable for me. None of the hosts are particularly interesting or insightful. I found Dan Patrick's show just as bad as the rest of the stuff they air.

The bests sports talk show on radio is FERRAL over on Sirius 101. If you own Sirius radio and have not listened to it give it a chance. It runs weekdays (M-F) from 8PM-12AM EST. It's different from any other sports show I've ever heard, in a very good way.

Yeah Ferral is the man, he seems like a real guy who any guy can relate to.

It's better because the hosts and guests can cuss!!! The Iron Sheik stuff was among the best I've heard as well as the Denny McClain interview. Ferrall is fantastic and Howard loves him, so I don't think he'll go anywhere for a while

then why even put ronaldinho in the thing? They could have just said kobe gets a 1st round bye and spared people two days of horrible forced hype.

So, Patrick's last day is tomorrow. Who do you guys think will replace him? I like Van Pelt a lot when he was hosting, he seemed natural. Trico was okay, but kind of eh. Some rumors are Cowheard will move into his spot and someone will take Cowheards spot.

Who would you guys like to see put in his place?

Patrick's new radio show I read will come on 9est to 12est and will compete with the Heard and not Jim Rome.
