The production value is pretty top notch (save a few blips with "Barry Bonds," "Can't Tell Me Nothing" and "Drunk and Hot Girls") but otherwise the producing is on par with anything the underground has to offer.

Kanye isn't really a bad rapper, either. Sure, he doesn't always spit incredible, on point lyrics, but he can hold his own, and works especially well over his own beats. "Champion" is a good example of this. Kanye's flow is incredible over the beat, proof that he's gotten better since his last album.

What album from 2007 would you say is on par with Graduation? I'll give you Silent Knight's "Hunger Strike" and Blue Scholars' "Bayani," as 1 and 2, but I really have yet to see any albums that beat out Graduation. Please don't respond with "any album, Kanye sucks." I'm curious as to your favorite artists, maybe it will give me some insight into your tastes.

        Peace.
The production isn't even on par with his previous albums, the beats are simplistic and just not very good for the most part. I've already stated before that I was a fan of Kanye until he started getting cockier and cockier for someone who isn't very good at rapping. What I listen to has nothing to do with my opinion of this album, the beats aren't that good and his rhymes aren't very good. I was listening to Stronger for weeks, even though it's just typical Kanye talking about how great he was. The sad thing is that his other songs just aren't that good.

Wait wait, so according to you, the album just isn't very "good?" Great justification. I can just imagine you as president:

Interviewer: "President, why do you think the situation is failing in Iraq?"

Jmood: "Well, to be honest, I was a fan of our troops, until they just weren't good anymore. I mean, they're not fighting very good or doing anything very good. I just think the troops are getting cocky and not doing much good."

Your choice of music has everything to do with your opinion of the album. For example, let's say my favorite artist is someone like Immortal Technique (it's not, I actually don't really like him, this is just an example). Your perception of the album is going to be much different than if your favorite artist is, say, Common.

The best rappers out there are usually cocky. That's just how it is. Everyone from Yung Joc to Masta Ace (two polar opposites skill-wise) have bragged about their ability. If anything, Kanye is completely justified in his bragging. He's put out two (about to be three) of the most listened to hip hop albums in history and everyone from the media to rappers in the game are on his ****.

It's not like it matters much anyways. It's obvious you don't like the album for whatever reason and it's not like anyone could force you to enjoy a certain sound. That's fine, I suppose. We'll all just go on enjoying what most consider a great album and you can just pimp away. Do your thing.

Read this thread. Downloaded the album. Good Life is a great song. Like someone mentioned, lately, any song with T-pain has been good. And i'm loving this one. Haven't gotten around to listening to the other songs, but love this song.

Yes, according to me the album isn't good. I said in that post that the beats are simplistic and I don't like his rhymes so take from it whatever you will.

My choice of music has nothing to do with it because there are mainstream artists that I like and I did like Kanye. I don't care if he sells records because rich white people think that he's bringing something new to hip hop but I don't think that he has done anything worthy of his hype.

                Re: Graduation - Kanye West

The reason why this album is horrible is because I think Kanye outdid himself. The best beat I heard from him recently didn't even land on this album...it was on Kweli's new album, which is probably the best or second best album of the year (IN the Mood).

Kanye is not a good rapper. Plain and simple. People in Chicago almost know for a fact that he has a ghost-writer, Rhymefest. That's why almost everyone in the Chi dislikes Kanye. How is it that on your 3rd album the lyrics are drastically worse than the lyrics on the first two albums?

On Late Registration, he didn't even produce the hottest song on the album (Touch the Sky)...Just Blaze made it.

He's in over his head. The best track on this album (Stronger), Timbaland made that beat but Kanye will get credit for it. I don't understand. I had high expectations for Ye, and he dropped the ball...which is another reason why this CD is so awful. A great album exceeds its expectations. Common's new album was very good, but IMO, it only met its expectations. Talib KWeli's album exceeded even my expectations, and he's one of my favorite rappers of the universe, and of all times.

Plenty of albums have come out this year that were worlds better than this Kanye trash.

Wow I had no idea that he didn't make Stronger, I heard about Timbaland doing the drums but I thought that Kanye did the rest. Rhymefest gets no credit for anything he's done for Kanye but at least he's getting royalty checks. By the way, did you hear Rhymefest's album? It was pretty good and there were some really good songs on it.

Kanye West produced Stronger. He made the sample, chopped it, slowed it down, added the synths. Timbaland added the drums though.

I also love Rhymefest, but Kanye has much more charisma/mass appeal than Rhymefest. In fact, the only songs to blow from him had a Kanye West feature on it.

Besides that, I think this is a very good album. Not as good as Late Registration and College Dropout to me. Late Registration had We Major, Diamonds, Heard Em Say, Hey Mama, Touch The Sky, and Drive Slow......some great songs there that are better than about every song on Graduation save a couple. Alot of people thought that Kanye was going to more conscious on that album, but I have no idea why. Graduation has mass appeal and everybody is going to bump this one. Champion is a cleverly used sample and a great song.....same goes for I Wonder. Kanye gave power to that song.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."
