I wish I could disagree with you but i cannot. They need to just change the name of the movie because this is not GI Joe

Then this mess will end up with some wack FPS game in the end

      I think that's my issue.

Transformers was made into a live action movie, and looks/feels like the cartoon.

This? I have no clue what this is. Everyone has suits that they can fly or whatever with? WTF?!

Is Destro or Cobra Commander even in the movie in their comic/cartoon form? (I know they are in the movie, but haven't seen any shots)

I agree. Watching the trailer didn't make me think G.I. Joe. If I watched it with no sound and they didn't flash G.I. Joe up there on screen I wouldn't know.

To be honest it reminds me of the Centurions cartoon from when I was young. Guys in suits that could do different things

Transformers for me didn't feel like the cartoon. I knew it was Transformers from some of the characters like Optimus Prime.

I too wonder what Cobra Commander will look like since we haven't seen pictures yet. He'll probably end up like the complete opposite of what I know. =P

I found pics of him and Destro.

Let's just say I'm not surprised.

Supposedly they are working this as an origin type story, so we see them in their natural form from the previews. And even the Cobra troops at the beginning are in normal gear, but later in the movie they show them in a production line getting their Cobra gear on. I could be wrong, but this is all sounding like more of an origins story at the beginning part of the film.

The space suits are ridiculous if you ask me.

The space suits are just an excuse to use CGI.

I'm disappointed that the Baroness doesn't have a European accent (or at least she didn't in the trailer).

Origins? Then do it right. GI Joe never started off with super suits jumping through city train windows and hoping over cars

I wouldn't mind them starting off from the very jump but this is wild man... Cobra commaders beginnings were brief even in the cartoon, and having Dr Mindbender with a relaxed pompador hairdo is a joke!

I expected to hear as much. Stupid Hollywood killing my childhood memories. What's next, Destroying the A-Team? Oh.. Right.. Casting for that now. *Grumbles*

Why is it, when Hollywood takes an old IP and re-imagines it, do they always feel the need to change so much??

It's not like it didn't work before. G.I. Joe was awesome and over the top. Sounds perfect for a movie to me.

I happen to agree with you man, but I still think they could've had a better showing by basing , or taking notes for the movie from that cartoon gi joe resolute...

at least the characters would be right

I understand where you guys are coming from, we want the film to be as close to the cartoon we grew up and loved as kids. I am trying to stay positive with this one even though there are a few things I do not like (like the flying suits, Marlon Wayans in this role, Destro & Cobra Commander, and as much as I like Dennnis Quaid I worry of his portrayl of Hawk.)

Even more than Marlon having me concerned, this guy is playing Cobra Commander - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330687/ which I don't know if this guy can pull it off. I am glad that the film looks to keep sci-fi elements that were in the cartoon, but the casting might be a problem here.

Nah man, how about in the same ballpark, but it doesnt always have to be exact. I mean flying speed suits arent associated with any kind of GI Joe or hasbro product is it?

Specific characters like megatron and some of the others werent exactly as the cartoon but the movies were enjoyable.

...but this is a sham... bald dudes with hair, foot soilders on the field now have flying space suits like the X men, in the city.... lol

I'm with 23 here. I just want something that is in the same ballpark. It doesn't need to be a carbon copy but you don't need to re-invent the wheel to make and market this movie.

I just saw the picture of Cobra Commander I think. He's got a Scorpion, from Mortal Kombat, mask on. I understand actors like to have their face shown but that kills his mystique for me. He should look more like this in my opinion. Awesome Cobra Commander. The mask is just evil to me. The one they are using isn't so much.

Now the casting is a whole other thing for me. Channing Tatum playing Duke? Really? Duke was the leader until Hawk was introduced. Shouldn't be some young guy. Marlon Wayans in the movie.. at all? The boy from 3rd Rock as Cobra Commander?? Oh.. and we also get a Brendan Fraser cameo apparently. What character from G.I. Joe could he play. Originally it was Gung-ho.. but no we supposedly are getting a motor-cycle riding sergeant who is a descendant of Rick O'Connell. Who is Rick O'Connell. He is the main character from The Mummy, another movie from the director.

The only ones that make ANY sense to me are Hawk (I am a Dennis Quaid Fan. Great actor), Ray Park as Snake-Eyes (Just fits the type of roles he plays), and Christopher Eccleston as Destro (I like him as an actor, played a great Dr. Who). They are casting for these roles thinking about sequels. They want G.I. Joe to be a franchise. They shouldn't be casting and thinking about a Franchise, they need to make a GOOD MOVIE first.

                          Just my opinions though.
