Re: *** The Office: Season 4 ***
Yeah, it was just another case of her art hopes getting dashed. She sees that her piece isn't up on the wall even though it may have won an award or something similar, she gets shut down at the graphic design table because she doesn't know the programs... she's been getting shut down in regards to her art the whole series. It's just another moment to drive that home. Nobody showed up at her art opening to express their support except for Michael (Oscar and Gil were there but didn't appreciate her art), Roy shut her down about the design program that Jan had offered in Season 2...
But yeah, that was the jist of that moment -- just another instance of Pam's artistic goals and self-esteem being squashed.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: *** The Office: Season 4 ***
With only 1 episode left, this is shaping up to be the worst season of the Office. I've still enjoyed it but I thought the other 3 seasons were better. The writers strike probably caused them to drop some storylines and I wish Karen was still a "regular" on the show.
I also miss Todd Packer.
I wonder who will star in the Spin Off show? Nobody outside of Michael, Dwight, Pam, and Jim have enough star power to carry the show and there's pretty much no chance any of them would be leaving. The writers should have had the new cast members appear this season for several episodes so fans would know their characters a little bit.
Perhaps The Office has already jumped the shark. I think the spin off is a terrible idea since the current producers/writers will have less time to focus on The Office.Comment

Re: *** The Office: Season 4 ***
Although, I'm staying positive. The show has shown a tendency to be a creeper - a lot of episodes are better upon second viewing, and this season doesn't seem to be any different. I watched the last episode twice, for example, and even though I said I didn't like it after viewing #1, I laughed quite a bit the second time. The subtlety of the humor is a big part of things, lest we forget. The show is not necessarily a "laugh out loud" comedy in the traditional sense, ya know? It's the little stuff. (And I also think there's a certain "dark" element to the overall story that can't be overlooked: Michael is pathetic; the company is failing; Angela is two-faced; Stanley is, by and large, a prick; Ryan's on coke, etc., etc.)
A quality finale will go a long way.Last edited by Village Idiot; 05-13-2008, 10:19 AM.I am become death

Re: *** The Office: Season 4 ***
All In the Family -> The Jeffersons
All in the Family -> Maude -> Good Times
Happy Days (which actually spun off of "Love, American Style" -> Mork and Mindy/Laverne & Shirley
The Practice -> Boston Legal
Beavis & Butthead -> Daria
Not all of those are critically-acclaimed shows, but they were definitely a large cultural presence and deemed successful, with The Jeffersons being the largest show.
Also, Law & Order, CSI, and Star Trek (!) have made their name off of spin-off shows. And Law and Order: SVU actually contains a character (played by Richard Belzer) who was originally created for David Simon's Homicide: Life on the Streets (which was the precursor to The Wire). So that's a spin-off of two shows if you wanna get technical..
I'm not a huge fan of an actual spin-off of The Office (meaning that a character leaves the office for another destination and a show starts), but another show by the same creators would probably be funny. I think they have enough talent to have 2 funny shows. My worry is that they are planning to plan a show around Jim/Pam or one of the minor characters from TO, which I don't think will have legs. The Jim/Pam thing would be a huge risk, and they would definitely have to stay on TO at the same time (they've both said that they're remaining on the show). That would be a writer's nightmare...
The most likely actual spin-off that has a chance to be successful would be a show based on the warehouse staff starring Craig Robinson, just because he's a really funny guy and the warehouse is basically a separate environment from the office, so the interaction could be minimal so the writers don't have to line up the plot arcs of 2 series...Last edited by Stumbleweed; 05-14-2008, 01:56 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
