I thought it was a pretty damn good movie. The girls acting sometime was a little overboard and unrealistic but other than a few little things I was really pleased with the movie.

I feel the film is approaching that status. Kind of like Garden State.

It reminds me more of Little Miss Sunshine actually, in that regard.

            Re: Juno

It was seriously a cute film and I love the cast, but it's a solid B+ or an A-. It is definitely a fun watch and the casting was great, but I don't know if it's going down as a classic.

Cute is the perfect word for it.

You want a classic film? Go watch "The Salton Sea".

              Re: Juno

I really don't think anybody here ever considered it a classic. At least, I didn't.

The movie was great, no doubt. But, even with my 50+ DVDs that I own, I just don't think that it belongs there. Maybe someday, but not now. It's just not that testosterone-heavy. I can watch it easily with my mom, but she doesn't like watching movies a second, third, or seventy-sixth time. So in a way, I don't know how much replay value it can give me. Comedies normally disappoint me in that regard.

Though this does not deserve classic status, I put it above Superbad and Knocked Up. I think the humor in Juno is much tougher to write and come off as funny compared to the other two movies, and they did it so well while really completing a story. I only wish Michael Cera was in the movie more.

Totally agree. Just a cool, used to be under the radar film.

I'll own it once it's 3 for 20 at Blockbuster. I always get movies like that now....

Yeah more like Little Miss Sunshine if I were to compare but I sill liked it better than Little Miss Sunshine for sure. To compare it to Garden State I think not.

Garden State is an okay movie and I think it is/was hyped to Hell and back is because of its soundtrack. The only reason why I will watch it more than once is for Natalie Portman.

Going into Garden State I didn't know anything about it so no hype for me but even now it is in my top 5 films of all time. Brillant film. Zach Braff is nothing but talent. To Write, Direct, and Star in a film much less a good film is one tough job.

                          Yes Natalie Portman is great.

I just used G.S. as a comparison to say that it was somewhat under the radar [not to frequent film goers, but to the average person], then when the mainstream got a hold of it, the hype sort of got out of hand just like what I feel is happening to Juno.

G.S. has to be one of the most overrated movies ever. Not that I even care about underrated/overrated because taste is not something people can really debate, but the acclaim it received still baffles me today. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but I don't get what makes it special or brilliant.

I hear ex carrabba. I saw G.S. when it was fairlly new at the theaters and wasn't a lot of hype surrounding it at that point.

I can understand why movies like Juno, Garden State and Little Miss Sunshine would get hyped up by mainstream critics. Juno, GS, and LMS all are different from your typical hollywood flick, but at the same time they are still accessible to a mainstream audience and they still don't take a lot of thinking to really enjoy. But in the mainstream world they stand out because they have that indie feel to them. Because of that "Indie feel" I think a lot of people think they are "artsy" and therefore good movies without really watching the movie. I think the same thing happened to Napoleon Dynamite. It wasn't big and flashy, so I think some people gave it the benefit of the doubt, but in reality that movie was dumb as ****.
