I'm as milktoast as it comes, but I was under the impression that a lot of these rappers get their startup money from selling drugs. I've heard JayZ, Tupac, 50 and a few others say this. Heck, 50 admitted that with his first advance he used it to buy crack to sell because he had no idea if he'd make any money in music.

So a lot of these guys are already gangster idiots before they even get in the music business. And I imagine it must be very hard to leave that lifestyle behind once they get to be rich and famous. How do you tell your closest friends that you can no longer hang out with them because you're part of the rich elite? I'm sure they'd like that a lot.
So even though these guys go from living in Harlem to Beverly Hills, they have the same mentality.

The thing I hate is how a lot of young kids look up to this type of attitude and want to emulate it. So many black kids are told you'll be far more respected with a criminal record than a degree. That's insane!
Look at 'Alpha Dog' for crying out loud. Those kids were all rich, spoiled brats, but they got high on trying to live life as gangsta's.

It'd be nice if one popular rapper came out and told the youth that their lives shouldn't be wasted on drugs or vendetta's.

But what do I know? I'm as Wally Cleaver as it comes.

I think Jay-Z used drug money to start up Rocafella, but Tupac was a nerd. It's been said that he tried to sell drugs but he ain't know what he was doing. He always wanted to be a gangster and did anything to try to prove he was. Sadly,that was probably the cause of his death. 50cent was just petty dealer.

I'm convinced Soulja Boy doesn't speak English, he's created his own language.

My wife swears he is ********. As in, learning disabled.

After seeing that "dance" of his, I can't say I disagree.

If he (or people like him) are the future of hip-hop, it will be dead in 10 years, if not sooner.
