There was a night in between. The day that Sam got infected and Fred was moved was on his birthday so the infected moved it during the night.

See I thought the same thing, but I couldn't remember and didn't want to look stupid by saying that.

I remembered it as he trapped the female, experimented on her that night. Then, the next day, he saw Fred and went crazy. That's when he was trapped. The next day, giving the nightwalkers or whatever time to move Fred and set the trap.

I stand by what I saw, I do not remember a day/night sequence, but I'm not going to call you wrong for thinking there was one.

EDIT - read through this. There's never a mention or showing of a day/night transition. So basically, you're assuming there was one, I am assuming there wasn't based on what Neville did.

I just saw this last night and definitely remember there being a night sequence that would have given the infected time to move Fred. We don't even know for sure if he went back to the video store the very next day, could have been time in between. What confused me the most was that I was under the impression the infected were savage, unintelligible beings that weren't able to plan such a trap out. The rest of their actions throughout the movie seem to confirm that.

I first thought that Smith had put the trap up himself at some point and then simply forgot about it.

I've read others say the same thing about Smith forgetting about it but I highly doubt that. I'm almost positive there was some indication of nightly progression between the two scenes in question. Can't recall what it is but EG questioning it so vehemently is making me question what I saw.

I can't say I'm 100% right, just I know walking out of the theater, talking to my 4 other friends about it, not a single one of them remember them showing a day night sequence.

This is what I remember, Smith goes to video store, says hi to Fred, gets movie. Smith then caputres female Dark Seeker, experiments on her, then heads back out and that's when he sees Fred again.

Now, my one buddy believes Smith himself set that trap with Fred. Smith obviously raided a department store for manaquins, so there's going to be tons of them that look the same. Based on the fact that the Dark Seekers attacked a manaquin believing it was Smith later on, my buddy believes it's an old trap Smith set up. Remember, he's been there 3 years, and was obvioulsy starting to go insane.

That's a very plausable explaniation as well, actually, it's more plausable than the DS moved Fred at all. Not like Sam can tell Smith "dummy, you set that trap" LOL

I saw the movie twice last night and it was a different day. He went to the store the first time to get a movie and didn't go back to the store until after Fred was moved and Sam was dead. The day that he got trapped was on his birthday, which he talked about the next morning.

This is where he caught the infected girl if im not mistaken, so i'll confirm this one way or another in just a little bit.
