Just because they emphasized "Fred" at some point doesn't mean that the dark seekers couldn't have taken ANY mannequin and put it somewhere. Will Smith probably knew a ton of the mannequins and would have recognized any number of them, in which case the director probably would have showed a scene with Will and that mannequin. Orrr they could have just been watching him out of one of the windows of the buildings or something. By no means a "plot hole" in my opinion. Also, the fact that the dark seekers didn't come out in the light tells me that they can reason to some extent, and they just copied the same trap that Will set.

See, that is my point. You are really guessing and speculating at the proposition that they were evolving. The plot of the movie does not establish that. To me, you have bloopers in a movie, oversights and plot holes. A blooper would be someone having a blue jacket on in one moment, then in the next the jacket is green. A mistake would have been the example everyone used concerning whether the dummy was moved the same day or not (it was'nt). A plot hole (or disconnect) is when something has been established in the movie and then the movie goes against what it has established, for example. Let's say that in the lord of the rings, if gollum had fell in the crack of Mt Doom and at the last minute he sprouted wings and flew out, that would have been ridiculous, why? because it had been reasonably established that gollum can't fly.

In the movie, it was well established by Will that the seekers could not reason, they were rendured sub human as a direct result of contracting the virus. We see this flushed out even more when we observe the infected rats in the cages, and then again when his dog turns. All of the seekers are mindless, raged crazed maniacs that seek blood. If this is the case, what made that one seeker different? It was able to reason it able to set traps by using dummies as bait and it was leading the others, the plot gives us no guidance as to why this is so. Also, there was no indication that the seekers were evolving, only that the one had a higher intelligence, again only one. What made that one seeker different? The plot of the movie does not answer that, which makes the premise of the seekers being sub human false, it dis-establishes what it has already established.

I thought the reason that the one seeker was doing all of that stuff was to get his girlfriend back, we were told that the seeker Will caught was female, so it would have been logical to think that based on what we were given. However, when the seekers break into the lab, we so no recognition between the female that was caught and the super seeker. He just goes directly after Will without even looking at the caught female, so that theory was blown out of the water. Not only that, the main seeker was just banging its head against the glass like a mindless raged crazed animal, showing no ability to reason or think, he just kept banging his head. Now does that look like a seeker that was evolved? Or like a seeker that could even think? In my opinion, no. To me that is a plot hole, or a serious inconsistency at best.

Will saying that they have lost all human instincts doesn't establish anything but us being able to know what he believes. He also said that there wasn't a God, does that establish that God doesn't exist in the movie? Hitting a cage doesn't show any lack of intelligence. The only thing that we know about them is what Will said in the movie from his limited point of view.

Not only that, the main seeker was just banging its head against the glass like a mindless raged crazed animal, showing no ability to reason or think, he just kept banging his head. They were clearly much stronger than regular people and able to do things without pain so what difference does it make the method that they chose to break the glass? They didn't have any weapons with them and obviously didn't need a weapon to crack the glass.
