It's because most of these rappers aren't on the radio or mainstream music sources. Not everyone is into rap, or actively searches out the kind of music.

I have nothing against rap music or rappers. It's not my kind of music, but I don't have a problem with people liking it. I don't actively search for rap music, so I have very little knowledge on who's who. I know big named guys like 50 cent and Kanye, but that's about as far as my knowledge on rap goes.

All anyone asked was "who?" the guy was. How is someone who doesn't listen to rap, supposed to know what UGK stands for?

If anything, people are trying to broaden their horizons by asking who these people are. But instead, you shun us, and tell us to google it.

No one is trying to "broaden their horizon's" by asking who and if they really were they could easily find out for themselves. You don't see that in any other threads but rap threads.

I don't really listen to music, rap included. More of a talk radio guy. Next time I'll look people up before I comment.

Actually it wouldnt. If I put Adam Levine of Maroon 5 died in the thread title in the ENTERTAINMENT forum....its safe to assume he was a musician. I wouldnt just post "Who?" in the thread. It may have been an attempt to get information but it was also an attempted joke just like TJ's post in the Spice 1 thread.

I personally dont give a crap about Pimp C because I thought he was a scumbag but lets not act like that wasnt a failed joke in a thread about someones death.

Thanks for telling me what I was thinking. How many times can I say that I simply wanted to know who he was, I was in the office, so I couldn't search on the internet, and I was actually interested in who the guy was.

I don't know what it was or what it wasn't. The point was being made that this wouldn't happen in a thread with Tom Petty or Adam Levine. I asked who the heck Adam Levine was. You pointed out in your reply that he was from Maroon 5. How was I supposed to know that? It might be safe to assume he's a musician, but there are tons of musicians out there that I don't know that everyone else might know. What's the harm in asking who it is?

BTW, I knew who Pimp C was, I'm just standing up for those who are being attacked for asking who?

Except, most people will know who Maroon 5 is. They are always on the radio. I had never heard of UGK before this thread. I had no idea what part of the entertainment business he was in to.

"Pimp C of rap group UGK" would have helped a ton. UGK alone is no help what so ever. Is it a rap group? Rock band? Movie production crew? Accronym for a disease?
