EXACTLY! People like to try and pass off judgment based on one or two songs instead of actually listening. How many "Pop Metal" bands use a resonator, or actually have a vocalist that does ALL the violin work? Hurt ranges from acoustic, to violin, to bluegrass, to ambiance, to hard hitting rock.

To the guy who called them WWE style metal... Go listen to "Alone With The Sea", "Aftermath", and a live version of "Danse Russe(with a 90 second violin solo)" and come back and tell us your comment doesn't sound ignorant and ill-informed.

                Re: Hurt

Hey guys, I actually listened to more than one track, because I couldn't judge a band off of one song that I disliked so much before commenting. It's great that you all have such passion for this stuff, and I don't want to take away from that. But understand, there is no amount of negotiating or enlightenment necessary for me to see the whole picture with Hurt. I'm pretty open minded about music, especially aggressive music and I even have room in my heart for some pop metal, but not stuff like Hurt. To me-and I stress, this is just a personal opinion-this stuff is repetitive, mindless and fails in both melody and aggression.

I have to admit some bias, because I'm a guitar player, and it's hard for me to listen to stuff that is this easy to play and arrange structurally.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure cause my iTunes said that it was, but I double checked to make sure and it came out on April, 3

Sadly, not a single album this year that I've bought and liked.

I was quite excited to hear Nonpoint had a new album coming out. Then I bought it and it was utter crap. They took two steps backwards and regressed about 7 years in terms of song writing.

I haven't been that disappointed in a band in a long time.

Other than that, I haven't bought many albums. Not much music I like these days. Mostly older CDs I listen to.

Definitely wouldn't consider Paramore punk-ish, but they are a damned good band.

Honestly.. You must be thinking of another band. First of all, their music isn't structurally simple. There is no given structure. They don't play verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus type songs. There is NO set structure to their music. J sits down with Paul and they work the music around the lyrics he comes up with. I'll give you that they don't play anything amazingly difficult. I'm guessing you're a metal elitist that loves bands like Meshuggah, DT, Symphony X, LoG, and the likes. If so, I can understand why you don't like Hurt. They don't play anything that is overly complicated guitar-wise. They are a prog rock band that generally goes without solos.

I can guarantee that every reviewer out there would not compare the guys to either Tool or Pink Floyd if they were your average 'pop metal' band... which is exactly what they do.

                            Danse Russe:
                            <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V2esODnyjD4&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V2esODnyjD4&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

                            Rapture(Live acoustic in a=studio):
                            <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yrvDKZcwpA0&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yrvDKZcwpA0&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

...I have one more question for you. How in the hell do you get mindless from his lyrics? They are one of the few bands that gets radio play that ISN'T mindless. He, like Maynard, writes music that makes you think. And I don't get your 'aggressive' comment. They are NOT an aggressive band, that simply shows you have listened to their singles. VERY FEW of their songs have a lot of aggression. I also don't think Maynard, himself, would invite a band that makes mindless music to play the Tool cd release party, which is exactly what he did last year. Hurt played that party.
