Nope. My Dish remote works fine from where I sit. The only issue is that my Samsung LCD has a known issue where its RF signal is too strong and conflicts with the Dish RF and I have to put something up in front of the Dish front sensor. Then, the Dish remote works fine. I'm wondering if the Harmony just isn't strong enough to overcome that blocking it. Unfortunately, Samsung has no fix for that IR issue as of yet.

have you tried the Harmony without something blocking the sensor? Sounds like it isn't strong enough. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Yeah, it doesn't work at all without the sensor being blocked. When I have it blocked, it works, but only with a couple feet. With it blocked, the Dish remote itself works across the room. I'll probably just see if I can get that problem fixed first and then work on the remote aspect. I won't be able to use the Harmony if I have to be within a couple feet of the box all the time. That's weird...sounds like something's broken maybe? No remote requires you to be that close to a device....Yeah, it doesn't work at all without the sensor being blocked. Oh, with the up/down arrow issue, I'm not sure there's a solution. Basically, I think the "Watch TV" activity has them set to the DVR, so even when you run the command do record, they'll still be linked to the DVR up/down arrows. I don't know if there's a way to switch the arrow behavior mid-activity. It's like my volume's linked to my receiver, and if I wanted to use the TV volume I'd have to go to the devices and select TV in order to get the +/- to work for the TV volume.Last edited by mgoblue; 12-27-2008, 11:58 PM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: New Universal Remote - Harmony One - my quick review

Yeah, that's what I found. By the end of the night, I had become an expert on commands. lol. I had everything working mostly like I wanted it. The problem all rests with the TV. If it wasn't such a great TV, picture-wise, I'd be more upset. I just hope they come out with a firmware update at some point (or I find some kind of signal blocker that doesn't require me blocking the whole front of the dish box). I really think that the Harmony just doesn't have strong enough RF output to overcome the piece of heavy paper blocking the sensor. Like I said, the Dish remote seems to work fine once I have the paper there, even from 10 feet away. The Harmony works but you have to be 3-4 feet away. That's weird...sounds like something's broken maybe? No remote requires you to be that close to a device....

Re: New Universal Remote - Harmony One - my quick review

I just saw this on Logitech's site:

Discover the innovative world of Logitech United States and shop everything MX, Mechanical Keyboards, Wireless Mice, Webcams, Headsets, Software, and more Discover the innovative world of Logitech United States and shop everything MX, Mechanical Keyboards, Wireless Mice, Webcams, Headsets, Software, and more

Anyone pick one of these up? It's an adapter for the PS3 so you can control your PS3 through your Harmony remote. I have the PS3 blu-ray remote, but might sell that or trade it in to pick this thing up.Comment

I don't use the remote, just the usb part that I plug into the ps3 and I control my ps3 from my harmony just fine.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

I have one of those remotes. How do you program it into a harmony remote to use on the PS3?I bought this for $15 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000R5H7KE?...89&camp=211189

Re: New Universal Remote - Harmony One - my quick review

I just went into the Harmony website/program where you add your activities etc. If you already have a device named PS3 in your harmony setup, you need to add another one. instead of adding the PS3 and/or the Nyko....add game console with DVD, sony, Playstation 3 Blu-Wave

Then make an activity "watch bluray" or something similar and use the device you added above when you set it up.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

I've got this as well, which is why I've held off on the better Logitech one, but I'll get that eventually. That allows you to turn on and off the PS3 (I think), and doesn't take up the USB slot in the menu (I also think, not 100%). Those are the two annoyances of the BluWave thing.I bought this for $15 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000R5H7KE?...89&camp=211189
