Well it looks like my once favorite R&B artist Ne-Yo is diving into the pop life more than ever.

He has a new album coming out in June, "Year of the Gentleman".

He's already or is going to soon release the single "Closer". It's a techno/club/dance song that I'll probalby enjoy in the club but will never listen to it outside of a dancing atmosphere.

      Check out the vid here:

His first album was classic man! Even the "Unspoken Words" unreleased songs...I still listen to all of em.

I can't believe I forgot to add Corinne Bailey Rae to my list.

no fair, if we're gonna take it back there could be a ton added to the list. the worse song on the radio in the 90's would be in the top 10 today.

btw, I want to mention Estelle again. Great, great album. Best new R&B woman I've heard since Jill Scott (don't know if I'd put her on that level but best since her debut). Maybe Beyonce but I like that Estelle's got a different style to her.

I would. It's not baby making music but so what? I do think however that they could go into a number of categories with no issues.

I made my wife and about four mix cds full of old school R&B a few years back. Artists featured include, Troop, Guy, Switch (uh huh, whatcha know about that?), Surface, Al B Sure, The System, The Rude Boys, Mista, Heatwave (grown folks music),Keith Washington, Betty Wright, both Midnight and Atlantic Star, Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal, Freddie Jackson, etc, etc, etc. Even got some Ready for the World and Force MDs in there. About 4 cds total and hey really run the gamut of about 30 years or so of great relationship songs.

I like some of the stuff out there today, but it's got nothing on the old school. I really like Musiq though, every single album of his I've loved. R. Kelly was my boy for a minute, but lately man, uuggghhhh. Thumbs down with the thug stuff man. Dwele is cool though, I like him.

yeah you guys are pullin some classics out of the milk crates. I was going to mention babyface and would also have to add Brian Mcknight and of course the New Edition empire (NE, BBD, Boys II Men, Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill).

Pretty much any song by any of the above deserves to be in this thread (besides Brian McKnight's last 2 or so albums which only had a couple of hits).
