Re: Is anyone else finding their musical tastes "mellowing" as they get older?

Definately into more mellow music nowadays. As a matter of fact, I listen to more sportstalk radio than anything when I'm in my car during the day and when I'm at the office.

And in the evenings when I'm driving I listen to the 'quiet storm' or the easy listening stations in my area. I used to be strictly rap but, not to long after 2PAC got murdered my taste for rap sorta dwindled away.

What's strange is, I can never see myself going back to listening to Rap/R & B exclusively again. Nowadays, I only listen to rap when I'm mad or stressed out and it's usually classic stuff from the early to mid 90's ie; Pac, Wutang, NWA etc.

It's kinda funny when I think about it. I never thought I would be that guy who listened to sportstalk radio, jazz and easy listening mellow music, instead of rap or r&b.

It's crazy how my taste has changed...... give me some Phil Collins or the Dan Patrick Radio Show and I'm good.

I can definately do without Jay-Z, Soulja Boy, and HipHop in general.....that's for sure.

I've always had a diverse taste in music because of my father. I don't think my taste in music has changed much since I was kid. I'm just getting better at finding something I like about almost all types of music.

The only two types of music I've never listened to were screaming metal music and country music.

Wasn't Mozart deaf? That's gotta be a helluva thing to achieve, making great concertos but you can't hear a thing.

I believe you're thinking of Beethoven.

I may only be 20 years old, but being a product of two older brothers' influence, I have been listening to the same stuff for about 15 years now.

I'm a punk guy, Bad Religion and No Fun At All are my favorite. I also love 80s music and Metallica too.

As I've grown older though, I've gained even more appreciation and knowledge of classic rock and classical music though.

I really don't care for rock or rap. I do like some R&B, though. I actually like classical music, though it's not what I usually listen too. I usually listen to old stuff from the 1960s-1970s (Neil Diamond, John Denver mostly) and stuff like that along with other stuff, even some bluegrass.

I guess when I am 30, if my music taste "mellows", I will be listening to early 1900s classic music strictly or even to Winnie the Poo, LOL! I don't see that happening, though!

In fact earlier I was listening to different versions of "when smoke gets in your eyes" before favoriting the Platters version on youtube.

Which leads me to ask, how the hell was Engelbert Humperdink (sp) so popular? The man absolutely butchered such a great song!
im the same way. Ive always enjoyed real mellow music, and i cant get enough of the old stuff.

Some of the hard stuff is good too though. It depends on the song.

I pretty much like all kinds of music, as long as it's good.
