I think an interesting poll after the Season 7 series finale would be to see if guys here preferred The Shield or The Wire more. Both great series in their own right, but I lost interest in The Wire and have yet to finish season 5. I will admit that with the whole Lem / Vic / Shane triangle mess, it got a weird. But, let's see how they tie it all together.

I think The Wire has a pretty good edge in the standpoint that it's much more realistic and limited, where as The Shield gets way over the top pretty much the first episode. Plus, every second nobody kills Shane I get angry. Not just after the season 5 issue, after a few episodes in season 1. I don't like the guy. That said, this is probably my second favorite show of ever.

Not even close IMO, The Shield by a wide margin. Not because the Wire isn't great, it is, but because of the format of the Wire with focusing on different characters and issues for each season. I'm much more attached to and interested in Shane, Lem, Vic and Ronnie than any of the Wire characters save maybe Bubs.

Yes because it's more consistent than 24 and it also doesn't have as many crazy, implausible things happen as 24 does. Plus I think the writing is much more deep in regards to character depth than 24.

I actually started watching The Shield after seeing a season 2 promo for it run during 24.

Glad I tuned in. It's an amazing show. I will be sad to see it go, but can't wait for the finale.

I thought last season was too short. Maybe that's just because I was enjoying season 6 so much I didn't want it to end.

I would recommend anyone who is interested in this show never think of reading a message board on the show. There was a scene at the end of Season 5 that's, well, kind of big in the show and was the main focus of Season 6 and likely 7.
