It really depends on how they resolve Shane/Vic, Ronnie, Julien, and Aceveda and end Dutchboy.

The Wire had an advantage because the set up of the show wasn't geared towards an epic finish, while the Shield has backed itself into a corner where there needs to be a major ending. If it can deliver what it has built up, it could pass The Wire.

I remember going to work every wednesday after watching an episode and just telling everybody in the breakroom. I HATE FOREST WHITAKER

He played the hell outta that role

Yes he did and maybe you guys are right that i'm letting that season influence my opinion but I've watched about 85% of the wire, only missing one season and I still think the Shield is better.

Also did you know Forest Whitaker put on about 100 pounds over the course of the season for that year to show how he was stressed and what not? Have you guys watched the most recent Shield on DVD that talks about the ep where Lem died and the lead up to it? It's pretty amazing. Him and the guy who plays Shane are method actors who have to really get into the role so no one can talk to them before they play their part.

Odogg, I think you mean the reverse on Whitaker, he had lost weight for the role of The Shield. He was a rather heavy person before and he dropped a lot. I am glad that he did since its healthier for him.

yeah you're right, i had that backwards..he said he had the character lose weight to show his stress, not the other way around..

I like what they've done with the Billings character. It's amusing when he gives the "Billings minimum", but he's not just a ridiculous 2-D caricature. He actually tries when any real person would. I don't know if this is intentional, but it can be pretty funny when he does try.

You're so right. On any other show Billings would be so two dimensional and boring but on this show he actually appears human. A lazy, indifferent human but human nonetheless who at times can definitely have his reasons to care.

How's come in tonight's episode did Vic say to Shane "It's big picture time Matt" or was that just my closed captioning screwing up?

I do not remember the Matt word but it could have been. those CC things are not always accurate.

Yup, there seemed something not right with her from the beginning.

Does anyone feel like the pacing is a bit off this season from the previous 6? I don't know what it is and can't put my finger on it. After 4 episodes, the show just feels like things are out of place to me.

Yeah,a little bit. I got a feeling it's about to pick up though.

Pick up?? Does anyone think this season the show is off? I don't know what you guys are watching but IMO this season has been stellar and exceeded my sky-high expectations so far with all the roller coaster turns I didn't see coming and very complex skin-of-the-teeth maneuvering by Vic and Shane. Honestly this looks like it's heading toward a rip roaring finale!!!!

Isn't Micheal Chiklis the director in a lot of the episodes? I'm just curious.

What felt out of place was Chiklis as a straight laced Sec. Of Defense in Eagle Eye. Still lovin' the show, but Shane needs to go by mid season.
