when artistically refreshing starts to sound like the first Kidz in the Hall album, I'm just not into it... I'm almost positive that only a few years ago I would have fallen in love with Lupe's style...

but these days I'm into that hard **** even if it's over that soul... I like that raw ****... I like the direction that the new Kidz in the Hall album went... I like that Buckshot over 9th... I like that grime that Fat Ray spits...

I just feel like the whole Lupe approach has missed the boat... came along a little too late for me. I would much rather listen to Sean Price type rappers than Common type rappers... I'm almost sick of rappers talking about changing the world... leading a movement...

Give me that grime!... that ignorant **** we love. lol

I'm pretty sure Lupe was doing stuff before Kidz In The Hall..first of all.

Second of all...Lupe doesn't talk about changing the world or leading a movement. He simply tells stories.

I like that gangsta **** from time to time to, but I don't listen to it every single time I put music on. Lupe has a place in everybodys rotation, IMO.

I didn't say Lupe wasn't doing stuff before Kidz in the Hall. Not braggin about my knowledge but I, of all people should know that. Maybe I haven't given him a fair shake, but I HAVE listened to his stuff, and it just doesn't appeal to me. I don't seem to see what the problem is here.

Also, any rapper who features Chris Martin... please stop this stupid trendy bull****.

wow can't believe i missed this thread....hmmm well back on topic?

To me that shirt means you have a sad sense of definition. If Hip Hop was dead there would be no "urban style" anymore. There would be no one trying to freestyle on the corner (skilled or otherwise) From the guy wearing the fresh fitted a chain and some fresh kicks to the girls (and dudes in some cases) making up dances for the club/party later on. No city art or tagging on the walls, I mean I could go on and on. Hip Hop will never die its way too broad it influences a wide array of cultures.

Just listen to how people communicate how much hip hip influenced slang is in a general everyday sentence (intentionally or unintentionally). Just look around anytime of day and Hip Hop will be all around you. Now if the shirt said MCing is dead I'd agree to a certain extent. There are few great mainstream MC's nowadays and if you rap but can't MC then sorry your not Hip Hop and if you don't know what that means then....once again NOT Hip Hop.

When ya'll got the time find yourself some history books because the change of music genres is always undergoing and are always becoming regionalized and marginalized.

Check out some of Ralph Ellisons writing on the changing jazz scene in the 40-60's. From dance music to musical expressions, from social meanings to social indifference.

                  Same old same old.

What the hell is this phrase suppose to mean? I never understood that mess. There's all kinds of hip hop out there. People look at mainstream music like it's the only thing available when there is a plethora of underground artists that deliver what you're trying to hear. Especially these days.
