Now for my questions after having it sink in over the night.

Why did they forget about Hoffman listening Jigsaw's tape at the "end" of 4. The tape said it was his final test or something of that sort's (don't kill me if wrong Blzer, I know you've seen it 453 times ). So all of a sudden, Hoffman is carrying on his life, albeit spooked, but that's never touched upon. To me, that's dumb to come back to in part 6, since Hoffman is currently doing another test with the 5 people in the room after Jigsaw is dead. So wouldn't he think something was weird about yet another tape? Seems like a plot hole to me.

The letter to Amanda... obviously it was Jigsaw telling her that Hoffman was in from the start, but why not spell that out? Was it me or did they not get Amanda back for this one. She was in zero scenes even in flashbacks. The one time we saw her, it was the back of her dead body.

The letter on Hoffman's desk. Obviously way before he figured Strahm knew something, so who else is in on this? This is what I meant by not liking the direction. So there's yet another member of the "Jigsaw" nation that knows?

I don't know, but it seems like them killing off Jigsaw in 3/4 was the bad idea and they know it. Hoffman just isn't as intense as Jigsaw is, nor does he scream, serial killer. Guess that's supposed to make it scarier, but it doesn't for me.

One thing I liked, the movie flew by, it felt like it was 30 minutes long. In reality, I know it couldn't have even been 90 minutes. Started at 7:20, I was home by 9:15, and that's with 15 minutes of trailers. Which, I need to see Bloody Valentine 3D. Everyone gasped over the Friday the 13th trailer as well. Which was even better seeing it on the big screen.

I liked V, feel it was good and fits in the story. Hopefully the loose ends mentioned above are filled in with VI, or I may give up on this series for good. Starting to feel like Lost in a way. I do like Blzer's theory on the 8 people being the 8 from the house in part 2. Although, the house never burned down that we saw, which again then ruins the theory. Considering the house basement was used again in 3/4, I just find it hard to believe the house burned. No idea though, but it does sound plausable.

Personally, I think that Jigsaw had Hoffman's goat from the point that he captured him with the shotgun to his face. Hoffman was spooked to death imo and at that point knew he had no choice but to join Jigsaw once his mind was manipulated. Hoffman has to have been helping Jigsaw going back to SAW I, because of Detective Tapp and the photos that we saw in the file folder. This is just one of my crazy theories.

I have a feeling that this is something that will be answered in VI. Look at some of the plotholes in IV that were answered in V, while not all of them. With them skipping around in time, they can create as many plotholes that they want and then answer them in the sequel as they have. Sad way of doing it, but I have become accustomed to it with this franchise.

LOL! It goes back to what you said, why don't we see Rigg's and even Wahlberg's bodies hauled out at the beginning? Granted, Walhberg is dead, for some reason I think that Rigg is dead too. He was warned to not play the game, but his curiosity wouldn't stop him, so he ignored his wife and Hoffman when he was told to take a break.

I could see it being blackmail on Hoffman, but why? Jill had nothing to do with this, so why would she all of a sudden want to blackmail Hoffman? Just a big plot hole along with the take during the autopsy.

Because, remember during SAW V when Jigsaw first kidnapped Hoffman in the elevator? Jigsaw took Hoffman back to the warehouse and gave Hoffman the choice to kill him with the razor. He turned around and told Hoffman that if you kill me that everyone will know what you have done, this will cause you to lose your job and be put away in jail. I think it is the information on Hoffman in there or possibly more tapes. LOL!

Like you said, I'm sure in VI we'll learn this stuff and new stuff is laid out in code.

I need this franchise to end with VI personally. They can make a spinoff after this called the SAW Chronicles or SAW Murders, or whatever, but this story arc needs to end. I love this franchise, but enough is enough already.

Saw V takes place between Hoffman closing the door on Strahm and the autopsy scene. I can't guarantee how long the timeline of Saw V was, but it might have only been a good 24 hours. Remember that someone captures Strahm and he frees himself that same night. Then there is nothing but investigating going on. I think that within the next 24 hours he is already being crushed by the wall. If not, then 48 hours. Either way, I'm pretty sure that John's autopsy happens after all of these events, so we are going to be reminded about this in Saw VI, I'm sure. I also think that Jill's box has something to do with the tape in John's stomach... it just has to be.

I don't know how obvious that is, actually. Because fact #1, John didn't write it... Hoffman did. At the end of Saw IV when they're doing the flashback sequences to show Hoffman did it, etc., it shows him taking the pig mask (when we thought he was actually being captured by a pig). But right before that, he is writing something and sticks it in an envelope, into a desk drawer. That is him writing whatever it is to Amanda. Obviously it freaked her out, and I have a feeling that, the way she would freak out when John said "I love you" to Lynn, she is feeling that, with John being the only person she now has in her life, losing her "father" would be devastating to no end, because she would be alone. I guess she ultimately felt alone after considering the letter meant that John meant nothing to her.

At the same time, a scene earlier when Amanda said Lynn was going to do brain surgery on him, John said, "There are some things I need you to do for me. In the blah blah drawer and desk, there's an envelope with your name on it." I don't know what those "things" were, and more importantly, whatever she read was not written by John, so perhaps Hoffman switched the contents of the envelope as well. Or maybe it just said for Amanda to kill him because he was meeting his end anyway, and her emotions took over.

When I first watched this movie, I thought this took place in current time. Then I saw John captured Hoffman in the elevator and such, so I thought it was a flashback with that envelope, which would make sense. But looking back, it was definitely in current time. I doubt there's another "member" per se, but again, this may have to do with what's inside Jill's box. John wants his legacy and work to end, especially when a guy like Hoffman is still killing just to kill (look at Strahm).

Again, probably to nail Hoffman. Jill did not appreciate his work, so she wouldn't ever do anything that is even remotely similar to putting him in a trap and testing him, but I'm sure it's so that she's aware that a "Jigsaw" is still out there. Perhaps she will continually drive him crazy with blackmail until he finally snaps and kills himself, or something of that nature. This would be a way to “test” Hoffman’s survival instinct, and see if he can find that own missing piece of his puzzle within himself and stay strong enough not to lose control and end his life for the sake of somebody else taunting him with letters and such. I’m sure Jill would be more than willing to end that in such a way, but if that’s the ending to the entire series, I don’t know if that’s mindblowing enough. There has to be something more.

Just to be clear... whatever is in the box has been in that box since John started becoming Jigsaw. The tape is obviously in that space that he used for all of his contraptions and such, and it was in that time of his life when he wasn't deteriorating so much. He anticipated that, if anything happened to him then and there or any time after, the box was ready for Jill. That said, it probably is something to put Hoffman away, or simply just drive him insane till he took himself off the precipice. When Hoffman was given the option to kill John in the flashback, he said it would come back to him... this was all after the tape for Jill was made, so he already had something planned with that box, I'm sure. What was true with Jeff killing John much later on was also true with Hoffman killing John much further back... that somehow, this would still tie back to Hoffman and killing Seth. Strahm may come out of this an innocent man, depending on what's in that box.

I don’t know if Hoffman really ever wanted to continue past the game with the five people. It seems as though he only did the one thing with Seth because he obviously wanted to kill Seth in vengeance, but he made it look like it was Jigsaw that did it, and he was going to leave it alone after that. However, John knew who he was and called him out. Since then, he’s been doing everything under John’s order, including the last game with the five people (when John says something along the lines of “It will all make sense at the end” or something with the games going on at once). Once John was dead, it seems as though, once again, he was done with it all (oh, and also killing everybody and getting Corbett out to make him look like the hero)… but then Strahm survived and was hot on his trail, so he had to get rid of him. Once again, after that, I think he just wanted to be done with it. But there’s still the letter to him and the tape from John’s stomach that says otherwise, that says he is still to go tested, despite ending everything once and for all.

It was smart to kill him in 3. I don’t think I would have liked seeing this cancer –ridden dude still going about his business like this after deteriorating so much. It simply shows that he’s mortal. The thing I really didn’t like was them breaking the trilogy and continuing after three movies. Since they did, this is really the only route that they can go, and that’s their own fault for breaking said trilogy, because now he’s only alive for half of the movies.

I thought he did, too. In fact, I thought everything was going to tie back into him testing Hoffman, for if he didn’t , his wife (Tracy) would be killed at that expense. Like, perhaps behind the Final Test room lies an area with implements for him to take care of his gunshot wound (ala Mark Wahlberg in Shooter) and there would be a sign on the wall that says “Judge as I Judge” and he would be recruited to do said action and take Hoffman out (sort of like how Zep had to do this to Lawrence). However, I guess they confirmed him dead, because they seized the building and recovered all of the bodies. Strange that he died…

The director’s cut is supposed to have an extra 14 minutes, which I’m really looking forward to. I wish it was longer, perhaps to iron out the characters in the five-person game or something else, just so everything feels a little more like we care for the good guys and not as much about the bad guys.

The only reason I think it’s the same house is because Erickson and Strahm are obviously walking in that house, fully furnished, at the end of the movie. One of them even sees a trail of blood leading up the stairs from that basement, which is probably from Lawrence, though I really don’t know. I think it’s the same house, but fully refurbished, etc. I may have to see the movie again to be sure, though.

I haven't seen this new one, but I have to say that I'm impressed with the storyline up to this film.

By that I mean, aren't the writers of the last three films different from the first three films? I'm pretty sure they are. I can research it, but I have almost no doubt.

Well, after I watched Saw IV, I had to kind of smile. Here's a story that someone else took and they filled in holes that were never there to begin with. Right? I don't think this entire story of Saw was plotted out from Saw I. I'd bet that Saw II and Saw III were planned together, but IV with the first trilogy? I can't see it.

Yet, someway, somehow, the writer took that first trilogy and filled it an explanation.

It's like someone here writing a 400 page book and then giving it to me and saying, write a sequel to this and fill the gaps and me doing a such a great job of it, you would never know it was a new writer.

The doors to the previous game(s) were closed and locked to initialize the current game they were in. Meaning, they couldn't go back once they realized what it is they had to do.

Watched it last night. Thought it was very well done. I wished I had watched the previous 4 movies before going in now.

The 3rd trap where the black girl is electrocuted in the bathtub. Why didn't the girl and guy drag her out of the bathtub before the bomb went off and shove her arms in the saw blades?

I thought the exact same thing.

The doors to the previous game(s) were closed and locked to initialize the current game they were in. Meaning, they couldn't go back once they realized what it is they had to do.

They realized it before closing the door though.
