The show was awesome. Hayes Carll is doing something that a lot of folks in music don't seem to be doing - having a ton of fun. He's one hell of a song/story writer, just knows how to throw words together. Jason was also great - it would have been awesome to have seen DBT when he was in the band I'm sure. He's a pretty good guitarist, too. Highlight of his set was definitely Danko, love that song. ******* Lonely Love was another good one. He did a cover of the Talking Heads Psycho Killer, which I loved - probably one of the best concert covers I've experienced. In the encore he covered Hendrix's Stone Free in the middle of Never Gonna Change, which was another treat.

The surprise of the night was definitely the opening band. It was a little duo (male and female) called Shovels & Ropes. They were really good - I picked up their cd during the intermission.

Day 1 of LJT in the book! Radney Foster is fn amazing acoustic. It's no wonder he is the premier song writer in all of country music. Radney played for about 1.5 hours. Then Larry Joe Taylor, Matt Martindale, Daryl Dodd and David Perez all sat and played together for about 2 hours.

Any Hank Williams 3 fans here? I see he has a new album coming out in a couple weeks - I've enjoyed all his albums, but Lovesick Broke & Driftin' is still my favorite of his. I definitely like his cowpunk attitude.

Anyway, gonna feature the son of Steve Earle today - Justin Townes Earle.

*There's a "better" vid of this song he recorded for Rolling Stone (solo performance), but I had to include this one since Jason Isbell is in there for support.*

More rockabilly than country, so I'll just throw it under the "alt. country" cloud.

Best one ever for me. Had a 5 day ticket and camped the last 3 nights. Met a new friend for the last 2 haha. Had cousins come in and had a 5 site compound in the primitive section. Steak for breakfast.

Perfect weather all week. Never got to hot and it didn't rain until after the shows Saturday. RRB played for about 2 hours.

Nothing gets better than grilling up steak and eggs for breakfast. And that had to be awesome with the weather. What other acts performed.
