This. I'm really happy for him. This is one of his best albums. Cinderalla Man is bananas!

I'm glad he diversified his production. Really great work on here! Damn, I'm happy to hear this!

Three straight months with albums that I am actually buying: Adventures of Bobby Ray, Distant Relatives, and now Recovery. I hadn't actually bought an album since Lupe's two albums, and now this. Man, hip hop is solid right now.

Just finished listening to the whole album. Like I said, this is exactly the Eminem that I have wanted to hear on an entire album, and he comes through. Just ... wow. I have to listen through again, because I can't really pick a favorite track. I'm just gonna say the whole album is fire.

Definitely one of Em's best albums this one has the same feel as Eminem Show imo. A very revealing album and its one that we have all been waiting on for a while. Addressed everything from the state of the game to his problems in life.

This is one of those albums that can hit classic status in the 2000's era. As an All Time classic is a whole other story and Em's only album that I think reached that status would be MMLP.

I would say this is almost like Eminem Show 2.0 in that its just as revealing, but its an album that is more up to date with hip hop as it is now. I don't think we are going to see to many like MMLP or other straight up classics like Illmatic, because its hard to capture people's attention like that with all the things going on in the world today.

This is as good of an album you are going to see nowadays tho b/c everyone is so opinionated now, makes all time classics almost impossible to achieve.

I don't think he will ever top The Eminem Show. That album was brilliant from beginning to end and he produced almost the whole thing his self. This album is way better than Encore and his last one though.

From The Eminem Show and prior, Eminem was the best doing it. Now it is Jay-Z hands down.

I am excited to hear Recovery though. I haven't bought an album of his since Eminem show so Im hoping that maybe this will get my 12 bucks. Two albums to purchase in one year has been a rarity for me but with this and Thank Me Later dropping looks like it's gonna happen.

The way I put it is Slim Shady lyricism mixed with Marshall Mathers introspect on a level only possible now.

And Jay-Z hasn't been good in years, I still don't understand how me and one other person I know are the only ones to see that.

Elaborate. I'm a big Jay-Z fan myself actually and I used to have the same point of view you did. Now I can agree that the way he was rapping in the 90s on Reasonable Doubt > now, but I see him more as evolving with the rap game, not selling out.

His albums (recently) follow the same pattern. Solid production, a couple of club songs, a couple of bangers, and a couple deeper songs. Bout 4-5 years ago I was hailaing Jay as the best ever....now....not so much. Not sure what it is but his albums have just been borderline wack IMO. He thinks he can get away with anything and it will seem cool or sound good but nope.

But yes, he is in the discussion with 3 stacks, Black Thought , and Nas.
I don't think Jay is overrated. He deserves everything he's got because he's just been that good.

And Blueprint III was a good album IMO. I flip-flopped on it early on because I heard a lot of the songs before I heard the entire thing but I think it's a good album. It isn't as good as The Black Album or the first Blueprint but I don't think you can say he hasn't put out a good album since 03.

I think you might drop the "Jay hands down" stance after you hear Recovery. It's close between him and Em but Jay hasn't had the same substance in his raps that Em has for awhile now.

I think Jay is, and this might sound kinda odd, but I think he's just out of things to rap about now.

He also has nothing left to prove. He's already established himself as one of the greatest ever.

I know his newer stuff post-Black Album has been hit or miss but I think it's just too hard for him to walk away, so even though he doesn't have much to talk about now or doesn't have to comeback from any life changing circumstances like Em has recently, he just wants to keep making music whether its not as good as his older stuff or not.

Why isn't Nas in yall's discussions for best doing it right now? Nas hasn't had a WEAK album since Nastradamus, and even that is ok by today's standards.

Recovery is ILL! Only song I didn't care for as much is Cinderella Man, and that was straight.

To whomever said Jay hasn't dropped a decent album since 2003...American Gangster was solid...though I agree none of his albums since 2003 have been as good as The Black Album. Kingdom Come and BP3 were ok.

So many albums I'm looking forward to this year!

I love Nas, but IMO his albums have very little replay value. I can listen to a lot of Illmatic but after that, it's only a select couple of tracks off his following albums that get PT.

And American Gangster was a great album. That was one that I didn't feel early on and picked it back up again some time later and really enjoyed it. I'm in love with Fallin' and it's probably in my top 10 (5 maybe) Jay-Z songs of all time.

Yea, he ***ed Buddens and I tend to believe Dame's side of things too.

Im not saying that he isn't good. He will go down as top 10 ever, but right now, If you had to pick one rapper that could put down the best verse, it would be him? In 2010? All I am saying is that he has 3 GREAT albums, and the rest of them (especially recently) fall somewhere between solid to ok to mediocre at best. He thinks he can do what he wants based on his past, and that is fine, but it doesn't change the fact that it is subpar especially when you start putting him in the conversation as the best out NOW. ****, Em killed Jay when they were both probably in their primes, and would do the same thing now, by far, but even worse.

I just dont think he deserves to be in the conversation with Em, Dre 3000, Black Thought, or Nas (who I had mentioned before, Po Pimp - I did think that Street's Disciple was a little weak though). It isnt that I hate him, I just think at least those 4 rappers, along with several other rappers, make much better music right now. And since you mentioned Buddens, I would take a verse from any member of Slaughterhouse over one from Jay.

Also I dont know if anyone else has seen him live, but Jay is a ****ty live MC, I want my sixty dollars back lol
