The singers that the Roots got for that album are horrible, I don't know what they were thinking with the choices that were made.

It sounds like Lupe's version of this song may have been a work in progress. It was too simple. Which is probably why B.o.B snatched it and made it what it is.

Man I can't stand Eminem...just do not like his flow.

                  His voice is annoying

Thank me later is pretty good to me, doesn't stand out though.

Speaking of athletes pretending to be rappers... You ever heard the kobe bryant song feat 50 cent? No? Well, here you go. I'm not positive who the other guy is, some say its capone others says its broady boy?

There's another version, but I think this one is the original beat. I think the other one is remixed with a different beat since the vocals don't sound right.

but those same ones from your area will grow
into women that are ready to get married at hello
                          because of what they allow

That's fine...I just can't pretend to like Eminem. I'd rather be honest and say I don't like something than agree just because...

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

Just got back from the Janelle Monae/Lupe Fiasco/Erykah Badu show at the Greek Theater. Erykah was alright but I'm not too big on her. I was mainly there for Janelle and Lupe(who I saw for the 8th time).

I got to my seats in the middle of Janelle's second song and I was pretty far back which was pretty disappointing. I didn't get to fully enjoy her performance from a distance, so after she got off stage, I went back to the box office with the help of a very nice usher to upgrade my tickets to the pit area.

Luckily for me, 90% of the people were there for Erykah so there were only a couple dozen people in the pit during Lupe's set and I was the only one down there who knew all his songs. During Hi Definition, he noticed me going word for word with him and for the last part of the second verse, he directed all his attention to me and as the verse ended, he held out his hand, I slapped it and he goes right back into the song.

As a hip hop fan, I can't think of a better feeling than your favorite artist recognizing your appreciation for his/her music and acknowledges it by singling you out from everybody else to rap/sing along with them. Then high fiving you! ^_^

Needless to say, I am incredibly ecstatic I decided to do something about my mediocre seats.

After the show, we went to go eat Chinese food and the fortune in my fortune cookie read "The respect of influential people will soon be yours." I'm going to frame my wristband and that fortune.

Great night, overall. My only regret is that I didn't upgrade my tickets before Janelle Monae's set. I would have loved to be right there for it. There's always next time.
