Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Bill Oreilly is so one sided... ugh. With that said though Lupe could not have sounded more foolish haha. Not a good look after Lasers bombed. Bring Ghostface onto OreillyComment

It's mind boggling after that whole fiasco (pun intended) the album would have sold nicely....Guess the suits were right after all

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
How many did he sell? Did it at least go gold? If not, LOL. All they hype, petitions, etc., he should be 2x platinum by now.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I mean it sold well because its Lupe, but everyone who bought it was like wtf. It was mad weak. I think the highest review I saw was like a 6/10. I saw alot of 3s and 2s and even a few 1s. Just a disappointment based on how good his first 2 albums were. I see why executives didnt want it out there.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I recall it selling over 200,000 in the 1st week. I'm not sure how much after that though because word of mouth may have killed the sales.Originally posted by slickdtcI'd ride his bus, that's all I'm saying.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I'm interested in Lasers figures to date as well, can't find it anywhere.
Edit: Over 400,000 according to this website. That's not too bad but the album itself was a major major letdown.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Surprised he only moved 400,000 units. I thought the strength of The Show Goes On single alone would have helped sell more. The lack of a solid 2nd single hurt too.Comment

Speaking of disappointed albums...
Wiz Khalifa, WTF were you thinking when you were making Rolling Papers?
I mean I know he's not the greatest rapper alive and I'm not expecting that when I listen to any of his tracks but the fact that he doesn't have any production from crew is mind boggling...
Where is Cardo and Slegdren? Johnny Juliano x Wiz = magic whenever they work together...Heck you can even add Ryan Tedder (Pittsburgh native who worked with Wiz before) on the album with so R&B type tracks!
I mean it's cool to have the hot right now producers on ya tape but I feel like a good 70% of his tracks should of been in house...I mean I like the guy because of the sound he brung which was lost with Rolling Papers...
I will listen to Deal or No Deal before I ever give that album another spin lol
Prolly sold well tho...Last edited by Jukeman; 06-21-2011, 03:35 PM.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I don't like Wiz Khalifa at all. Hes a weed rapper with mediocre lyrics who 16 year olds bump to look cool. That's not hip hop.Comment

I still haven't even listened to Rolling Papers, lol.
Speaking of albums, word from the man himself came out:
