    From the south

    Big K.R.I.T.
    Big Boi
    J. Cole (grew up in NC I think)
    Freddie GIbbz
    Scarface
    Curren$y
    UGK

Those would be my personal recommendations based off of what you said. Sounds like you want lyrical content but with catchy beats.

I don't really like Lasers that much. I like Kid Cudi's first album, but thought his second album sucked. I sorta like Wiz Khalifa and Kanye. I've been trying to get into the Roots, POS, Mos Def, but I'm not feeling it, I felt it was all lyrics and the beats weren't that catchy imo. I want good lyrics which don't involve made up words and giggles (Wayne), but I also want good beats that can pump you up and get stuck in your head. Any help?
      J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, The Game, Blu, Little Brother, Nas, Outkast (also branching off of Outkast, Big Boi and Andre 3000's solo stuff).

      Tried any of that?

Its all in preference man. Things that I think are good beats might suck to you. Just find something you like and go from that
Yeah I put in "Runaway" in Pandora and it plays old Kanye stuff that I liked a lot when I was younger. But the variety sucked. I think a lot of people here are into chill rap. It's something I'm not used to. All of my friends listen to crappy mainstream rap and it's annoying. I've been listening to T.I., and started listening to Jurassic 5 lately. It's just really different to listen to something else for once. I'm all open ears though.

Tried Nas and Blu a while back, I feel the same way of him as I do with Mos Def, etc. I'm sure their lyrics are great. But I'm looking for something more up beat I guess you could say. I'll give J. Cole a try, heard him in mlb 11 haha. Never heard of Big Brother but I'll look into that.

Yea Nas has some pretty good lyrics, but his beats arent so good. Pandora is great if you just type in a bunch of artists and flip back until you find something you like. I have probably 30-40+ in mine and it works great for me. Try going on Itunes and just loooking at stuff, Genius Reccomendations, try rapbasement.com and things like that.

Do you like newer stuff or old school?

No preference really. I'll play with pandora, I'm sure I'll find some stuff. I'll be sure to let you all know. Thanks for the help.

I'll throw a few other names out there.....

Young Jeezy (I was assuming you've already listened to him being from the South, but haven't seen you mention him. Plus he just released a new mixtape last week.)
                  Clipse
                  Pusha-T
DMX (older DMX that is, lol)
