Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Whenever the last track "The Ride" drops, I think it'll be safe to say the following:
Anyone who puts The Dream, Frank Ocean or anyone else in the same sentence as The Weeknd, should stop.
Just my opinionComment

Weeknd and Ocean are still equal to me. I doubt one song changes that. They both released incredible debuts, then Weeknd dropped that album of noise "Thursday".Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Check out this vid from my dude Pennjamin Banneker direct from MTV's site.

Funny coincedence with this artist. I ran into this vid sometime last year. Loved it but didn't know anything about the artist. We end up becoming friends on FB through networking. Well he recently contacted me about adding him to our site. So I'm checking out the vid again and I notice.....WTF! Is that me in the vid? Its tough to tell since it was only my back in the shot but I can say with 100% confidence that was me at 0:45 seconds in the vid. I knew it was me just by glancing at it then upon further viewing, I broke it down till I was positive. Anyway, what type of weird coincedence is that? I'm contacted by an artist who I never physically met before but I end up in a video he shot a year ago. Creepy.
Anyways, check out the vid. One of the best coming out the city. And dont forget to check out the website. www.neverfollow.biz. Or I will find you, hunt you down and force feed you a box of rocks.Last edited by Graphik; 11-07-2011, 01:52 PM.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Dream shouldn't be there anyways. Nobody is checking for Nivea's and Christina Milian's baby daddy anymore.
Weeknd and Ocean are still equal to me. I doubt one song changes that. They both released incredible debuts, then Weeknd dropped that album of noise "Thursday".
Thursday was noise? Haha, not gonna argue with someone's taste in music.
That's great though. I like him too, at least a little bit. I'm just saying all these guys are completely different in their content and as artists.
There's just is no reason for these guys to be in the same sentence anymore.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
This. The-Dream is actually a dope *** song writer.
As far as Ocean and The Weeknd goes, personally I think Ocean is better at this point.
Nostalgia: Ultra > Both The Weeknd releases.
Don't get me wrong, The Weeknd is totally unique and has a dope voice, but he still needs refining, at some points he seems like he is all over the place in terms of his songs and structure.
Plus, Ocean is way more versatile.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
The entire album is a win, if you're a Drake fan.
Production truly is top notch in my ears' opinion.
At this point I think it's definitely on par with Thank me Later and will probably surpass it.
Not really skipping any tracks...
'The Ride' still hasn't dropped yet... which he said was his favorite track on the album.. it's featuring The Weeknd surprise surprise.
Last night on the radio he said he would love to start his own OVOXO label. It's just a matter of time before it happens and he cuts ties with Young Money.Comment
