There has to be balance... it can't be all gangsta stuff, it can't all be concious stuff and it can't all be catchy dance stuff, there has to be a balance.

In the past 2-3 years there has been absolutely no balance to mainstream hip-hop. It's all been dumbed down stuff which does nothing. You can have fun some of the time, but people associate hip hop or rap as just that, when that's really unfair.

If anything the music is devolving. Beats are becoming ultra-simplistic, flow apparently doesn't matter anymore, having a catchy dance is more important than having any real subject or motive to the music.

There can be a certain amount of songs that have fun and are dances and what not, you need that... but that can't be all hip-hop is.

And no, anyone who says it's dead is lying. It's not dead. It's just not on the radio or on MTV. Hip-hop is alive and well, you just have to find it and listen to it yourself.
That's my other point. How can it all be unbalanced when there are sooo many great artists doing Great Things.

I feel like people are confusing Hip-Hop with only whats on a top ten list.

I mean if they made a seperate category for "Real rap" and the fun stuff, would that make everything better?

Parrots repeating their favorite rapper. I laugh at them. Then I shake my head at them while laughing a little bit more.

Seriously, when I hear people say Hip Hop is dead, it lets me know that those people don't have a clue what Hip Hop is. Hip Hop has never been more alive, and Hip Hop music is alive and well too.

That **** is a joke, but as trobinson said, there is no need to panic, Hip Hop is living really well and will continue for awhile

The reason people say hip hop is dead Imo, is that it isn't relevant in the media. When the only thing on the radio is some dance music, when all the videos on 106 (people voting) are catchy tunes, it's easy to say hip hop is dead. The ones who are speaking out and telling people what they want to hear is whats on the radio. i.e. not real hip hop for the most part. If we (the appreciatators of real hip hop ) don't have enough voices to get music back "balanced" then maybe it is dead. These newer generation listeners are loud and many! They are choosing what is considered 'popular music' now and days.

                J. Cole is the best newcomer to hit the scene since Lupe Fiasco. Very talented artist.

I don't typically listen to this music much...but damn I can't help it.

The only negative I have with The Warm Up is that it's too long. I prefer shorter tapes that leave me wanting for more and anticipating his next releases. Now I feel as if I'm stuffed after eating a good meal.

I can understand that.. I guess I'm the opposite, if the music is good.. I feel like I can never get enough.. but this is easily my favorite mixtape of the 3, I hope Jay really really gets behind this kid

This is quite possibly the worst attempt at a song that I've ever heard. You know people are out of ideas when they put stuff like this out.

I already thought Soulja Boy was really bad....but after listening to this he is even worse than I though.
