Not sure what the bold is about.

I shouldn't of said he sucks but lyrically he is mediocre. He never blows me away with his rhymes or makes me say damn and I have to rewind to hear it again. His production and what he speaks about makes me a fan of his.

And by and large lack creativity. Sampling can be an art form but when you just take a Gil Scott Heron or Tom Brock record and slow it down and add bass to it then I'm not impressed. It may sound good but please, at least put your own stamp on it.

Yup, there's guys out there like 9th Wonder who actually cut up samples and have a sound then there's Kanye who started out speeding everything up but has evolved to...slowing samples down. He even steals the drums he uses.

That's always been the dopest method. Primo made Mass Appeal from :01 of a sample record and flipped it many different ways to make the entire Mass Appeal beat. That sorta stuff takes serious talent.

And then there's a record like 3 Feet High & Rising, which is unfair to compare other stuff too since it was before sampling laws, but that album is absolutely insane. Musically and creatively it is a 12 out of 10. The album isn't for everyone but is so in depth and complicated that I can't place another rap album ahead of it production-wise.

Who seeded that tourney the BCS????

                    DJ Toomp a 16?

                    He's a pioneer...Nuff said

And Kanye is average on production?

                    lyrically maybe...

99.9% of drums you hear in hip hop are "stolen"

And speeding up/slowing samples down isnt as easy as it sounds..Thats itself is an art form

Man y'all are acting like all his beats are samples. Yes, that is how he made his name, but he has plenty of homegrown beats that are jammin'. As far as his lyrics, they aren't at a Jay, Em type level, but they are damn sure better than a lot of artists right now. Good *** Job will be another classic.

It may not be easy but it sure as hell ain't creative or original. When I pop in the sample and it's THAT obvious that it was used in the producer's beat then I'm not impressed. In most beats Kanye is making a remake IMO, not sampling.

Take a small piece of several records and make it into something new. Manipulate some of the pieces. As I said before, just do something to put your own stamp on it.

Not saying much considering who's out there right now. In mainstream that is.
