Because like you said, Atlantic are being a**holes. L.A.S.E.R.S. was supposed to come out months ago, but it never did.

That's why that petition to release the album was started, but I guess it hasn't really done much to get their attention.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

From what I've gathered, Lupe was going to release LupE.N.D. and retire. Atlantic then told him he has three albums left on his contract. I don't get this because LupE.N.D. was supposed to be three albums anyway, Everywhere, No Where, Down here (btw Lupe's never been good at acronyms). So he planned on giving Atlantic their three albums, then releasing LupE.N.D. on his own. Again, I don't know where this stands since he keeps talking about how he noticed how much his fans need him in a lot of his songs, including "Go To Sleep".

Regarding Lasers, Atlantic wanted Lupe to release a hit record to help promote the album. I'm Beamin' didn't do as well as they had hoped. They also gave "Nothin' On You" to Lupe before it ultimately fell to B.o.B which, IMO of course, helped him turn into what he is today, which is one of the most successful rappers of 2010(which made so much sense to me when I heard that it was given to him by the label because the song is so not him at all, but I digress). I don't know why B.o.B got the song instead of Lupe because there's a Lupe version of it that's been posted on this thread.

Long story short, Atlantic isn't releasing Lasers because Lupe hasn't had a hit strong enough to garner enough buys. Remember, this is what I've gathered through hear say and random sources. I could very well be wrong.

It's gotten their attention. They've even signed it. They also tweeted something like "Not to worry, Lasers is on its way." But besides that, they're being as quiet as video game developer with a new patch in the works.

Thanks for all that info. It all makes sense with how much of douche bags the record companies are.

That would be great if Lupe started his own record company.

Oh, I didn't even realize that. Hopefully they release it before the end of the year.

Hell yeah, I'd be shocked, and it's not because Tupac is dead. It's because Lupe is a much more skilled lyricist than Tupac ever was.

Forgot to mention, there's another remix of Power on the way. This time with John Mayer. Could be alright but I guess we'll see.

EDIT: @ that video Juke posted.

Well, obviously I don't think so either or I wouldn't have said it, but a lot of Pac fans thought he was some amazing MC and the greatest ever, whereas I always saw him as above average at best.

Everyone's the "greatest" when they past...

Heck, even video games get overrated when that get canceled for future installments...

I thought Pac was one of the greatest before he died and no one has come along to change my mind since.
