I wasn't happy with the Inspriation or the Recession albums, so I'm hoping that TM103 goes back to the TM101 days, but I'm not too confident in that.

I hadn't heard it yet. Is it the 'Be' or 'Finding Forever', Common. Or is it 'Universal Mind Control' Common? If it's the former, it's an instacop.

LOL! How is EVERYTHING connected to "the Illuminati?" You could have two poodles double-dutching on an album cover and someone will try to make something out of it SMH. (I know you're probably being sarcastic, blaze).

Kind of ashamed to admit this but I've never listened to any Common album front to back before this one. Just never been that big a fan I guess, but this album is slowly converting me.

So I can't compare, but all I can say is it's all No ID produced and Common comes through. I'm not even sure there's a bad song.

BTW, track 12 isn't a song. Basically just an outro track with some dude not named Common talking. Not sure if it's listed on the album as an outro or not, but it's not on the one I came across.

The only other instrumental albums i enjoy are Madlib's various projects, but his vibe is a completely different animal than DJ Shadow.

Well his Shades of Blue album where he got access to Blue Note Records catalog and reworked it might be close. Couple bits from that:

I'm partial to the Beat Konducta series though.

That guy "talking" on Pops Belief is Lonnie Lynn doing a spoken word poem.

The Common album is about as good as your going get out of him in 2011. No I.D. production on this is beautiful as expected. I wouldn't put the album up there with Be or Finding Forever. It does however make up for the trash that was Universal Mind Control.

                                8.2/10

As for the new Young Jeezy album. I don't get all the love I'm seeing for this on the net. The whole things comes off as generic and uninspired to me. No wonder the thing was pushed back time and time again. Having Future as a feature causes you to lose a whole point in my book.

Was 6.0/10 expect due to Future being on the album it gets a 5.0/10

PS - BNG yourself a favor and check out Commons work. To save yourself some time just go ahead and skip Electric Circus and Universal Mind Control.
