I posted this in The Wire thread, but figured it'd probably reach a lot more like-minded people here. Michael K. Williams revealed his Omar playlist to Vulture.

For the Spotify guys, here's the link: Michael K. Williams's Omar Playlist

Finishing it up now. Its pretty good. I feel great shame in not really checking out Lauryn Hill before now. The Unplugged tracks are amazing.

No one puts up the numbers 50 cent did with Get Rich or Die Tryin' these days. 50 couldn't have done those number if him being shot 9 times wasn't promoted like crazy.

Based off the I Don't Like single and the hype around his persona. Chief Keef would move just as many units as Nas, Ross, or 2 Chainz did their first week.

So yeah, in today's market his album would be considered a success. Expect Interscope to pump that out soon.

You really think he'd put up elite numbers for rap albums in todays market? I just don't see it.

Totally agree no one puts up 50 numbers even if the 50 saga started today brand new, he knows that and knew that and made money in other avenues with the money he made. Smart cat.

Even with good CD sales, how do you successfully market a violent and violence-breeding musician to venues that typically like to stay away from violence erupting at their place of business? Or maybe I'm generalizing too much.

Nothing he's put out without RZA has been as good as Liquid Swords. Personally, my second favorite album of his is Pro Tools, and I've heard it was recorded in less than a month.

You're right. The names I listed were an exaggeration. I still think he would move enough units for Interscrope to consider the album a success.

Not a Big Sean fan, but I had the 1st track(Higher) on heavy rotation earlier. I dont know, but I really like the beat. Might have to hear the rest of the tape tomorrow.
