Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
So....not to go all NBA forum here but since he's the man of the hour: Jay-Z, GOAT?
I used to not think so, although I could admit he's obviously in the conversation, but after he just dropped yet another great album, it's hard not to take into account the longevity and the numbers and all of that and come away thinking he isn't.
The Pac stan in me still wants to say he's at the top, but it's getting a lot harder to.Last edited by BlueNGold; 07-05-2013, 04:20 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I disagree, for the most part when you see the fans of OF, Mac Miller, etc in this thread, they are typically Reaman, Fly, others and myself, who I'd venture to say are all on the young side, myself being 19. But then when you see praise/excitement about late 80s-90s rappers, it's typically from people like Packman, Aerobee, etc. I don't know what music jmood likes, but I have an extensive list of what he doesn't
Prime example, we've all listened to Magna Carta, and neither Fly, nor I were impressed, but others have called it the release of the summer, whereas I'd put BS, Watching Movies, and maybe Yeezus above it. There are exceptions, but it does appear to be an era thing more often than not.Last edited by Jdoug312; 07-05-2013, 07:53 AM.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I don't think you should factor numbers in when searching for the GOAT in music. I doubt any artist from here on out will sell as much as Jay-Z, not because their music isn't better, but because it's so easy to download leaks nowadays, and the older crowd is more likely to buy an album they like then the younger crowd.Am I trolling? Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I think it's more split by region than anything else. I'm 23 and I llike rap from mid 90's to about mid 2000's. There are a few exceptions but for the most part I find almost all rap today garbage.Am I trolling? Am I serious? Did Dennis Green and the Cardinals really "let them off the hook"? Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Most people laugh at me when I tell them I think Eminem is the G.O.A.T. Being from Bed Stuy Brooklyn it's like you're expected to worship Biggie and Jay Z. For me Em is far superior to Jay Z and Big just didn't have enough longevity for to give him the number one spot.Am I trolling? Am I serious? ...Eminem is technically insane but the mans ear for beats is horrible. That said, all the stuff done before the big aftermath deal I mess with heavy. I haven't rocked with any of the major release albums after the initial listen.

When I was young all I cared for was the beat hard and if the song had scratching in it. I didn't really care what the rapper was saying lyrically. Now I need that intro of the beat to get me interested then I start dissecting the song through the lyrics.
