Jano I didn't listen to either one. I kind of stopped looking, so I am sure I missed some good music this year and last and probably the year before.

I would start with The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights mixtapes. They can be found on datpiff for free.

FNL could have been a platinum selling album imo.

This is more R&B than hip-hop but the R&B thread sucks so here ya go:

IMO you'd be best to start off with The Warm Up. That to me is still the best thing he's put out. There's also The Come Up, which was his first mixtape and came before The Warm Up, but it's pretty raw and the sound is a bit different from where he's at now.

Black Milk - If There's a Hell Below
            Big KRIT - Cadillactica
Statik Selektah - What Goes Around
            Logic - Under Pressure
            Pharohe Monch - PTSD
            Step Brothers - Lord Steppington
Pusha T - My Name Is My Name
Cunninlynguists - Strange Journey Vol 3 and The WinterFire Ep
J Cole - Forrest Hills Drive

Pusha T was last year but that was a very good album.

I also forgot about Logic's album. I thought that was pretty solid as well.

I don't know where it's going to rank among Friday Night Lights, The Warm Up and Born Sinner yet. I do think this is his strongest effort when it comes to production though. The drums are on point throughout the whole album. I still think lyrically he was at his best on The Warm Up but as far as his studio albums go, I think this might be his best in that regard.

There's definitely a lack of that Power Trip, Crooked Smile, Work Out single so I don't know how much staying power the album is going to have. No Role Modelz is my **** though. I can't stop playing that one. Lots of great moments throughout (the George Bush clip, "she shaaaalooooww" , etc) I think that's the one that will actually end up being the single but we'll see. Fire Squad is nice too. That and A Tale of 2 Citiez reminds me of some Makavelli era Pac with how they sound. Love it. Also, Wet Dreamz is basically the virgin anthem lol. It's dope though and it's nice to hear it since it was a song that's been in the works going back to Sideline Story.

Overall, I'm happy with what's been put out here and I'm definitely buying the physical copy on Tuesday.

There's a part of me that wants Cole to switch things up for an album and get in the studio with some big name producers just to see what could happen. Like if he went the Nas/Common route and did a whole album with No ID, I'd probably lose my damn mind. That being said he's definitely come into his own and is carving out his lane in the game, which is cool to see.

And as good as the album is, I'm still left wanting more considering it's only technically 12 tracks (yes, I listened to all 14 minutes of Note To Self, lol) so hopefully there's some more stuff in the works sooner rather than later.
Thought I was the only one that listened to Note to Self.. Lol.

I listen to PRhyme this morning. Decent album, lyrically on point. The beats I felt were typical Premo. I didn't really care for the beat selection by Royce. I need to listen to it again, might be album that needs to grow in me??! LOL
