Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
SpoilerIf this is the case, I think the rules should apply for putting the Allspark in his chest as well. He continually said how he would sacrifice himself in the first one by putting it in his chest, but if the shard can't bring him back to life, I feel that it would be undeserving for the cube to kill him as well.
But that's just all talk of fairness, and not necessarily logical nor truthful.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I still don't get the "tried to do too much" angle and I didn't really enjoy the film. The story, for what its worth, was pretty straight forward and linear. The dialogue basically mapped out what had to be done next and when they got to that point, another objective popped up and repeat for 2.5 hours. RotF was nothing like Spiderman 3 - Spidey 3 had like 3-4 different storylines/subplots going on at the same time, whereas RotF really had one, maybe two storylines going on.
But to me, it seemed like certain plots of the movie were pointless and could have been completely taken out because they never lead to anything. Here are the one's that bugged me.
Spoiler
- The whole "we're shutting you down" plot with the guy who answered to the President. What was the point in all that. It was a waste.
- The whole "We're going to reveal ourselves to the world!" plot. What came out of that anyway? First, it didn't make any sense that the world didn't know that they were on Earth to begin with. Then, we didn't see anything come from it except for Decepticons landing on top of buildings and bridges around the world. They were even talking about not showing any "mercy" to the humans. But again, we saw nothing of the sort.
- To kind of piggy back off of that, the whole "Give us the boy, or else!" plot line. We didn't see law enforcement or pedestrians hunting him down. No panic or anything of the sort. All we got is the roommate getting his phone broken because Sam thinks they can track them on it. They even made it seem like a big deal when the President's stooge was saying that he's going to evaluate options, one of them being in handing Sam over to the Decepticons. What did that lead to?
- Optimus' death. We didn't see any sort of consequence from that. The Decepticons didn't start to take over and seize the opportunity to do some real damage or nothing. Didn't get to see the Decepticons using their advantage against the Autobots. After he died, the action in the movie came to a halt with Sam and his crew trying to find out what the symbols mean, finding the old dude, finding the old Decepticon, and finding the Matrix.
- Not necessarily a plot line, but the whole bit where Starscream cut off the soldiers communication. They kept bringing it up over and over about how they couldn't get communication with headquarters and vice versa. They made it seem like it was a big deal, but again it didn't lead to anything.
So for me, too many plot points were left open. Like, they started them in the beginning of the movie, and decided the movie was getting kind of long and just left it without any type of closure to them.Last edited by TMagic; 07-06-2009, 01:19 AM.Comment

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I thought the movie was alright. It didnt have the same humor as the first one (although it tried too hard to find it). The action scenes were good, but like someone else pointed out, for all the drawn out battle scenes, the penultimate fight lasted for 20 seconds.
My biggest beef (and this goes for a lot of movies) is the ending. It took over 2 hours to build up the movie, to get the to climactic scene, and right after the last fight, it was over 90 seconds later withSpoilerSam and Optimus on the aircraft carrier
The other movie that did that was Jurassic Park III. They are surrounded by raptors, give the egg back and 30 seconds later the entire military shows up on the beach, finds them and its over, ridiculous.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

I Spy ends very abruptly as well. I feel like Rush Hour 3 did, too... just didn't have the ending charm that the first two had (however it lacked a lot of things the first two did well).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I thought the twin robots were hella funny. I've got family and I know others that act like that. Especially the part where the dude said how he was scared and twin replies "cuz u a bitch" by far my favorite line of the movie that and "punk *** deceptacons" lol. The term "Black" is a socio-political construct created by europeans used to separate people by the color of their skin. The color "Black" was assigned to Africans to make it easy for people to hate. ex. "black" magic is bad, funerals people wear black, bad guys usually wear black like the wicked witch. but NE who Darker skin aka Black people need to stop acting like black people don't act like the twins in this movie. After spending time w/ extended family I def have some "robot twin" like people in my family. I still love them though lol. Jus my 2 cents. I loved the movie from beginning to end.Comment

i agree, still enjoyed the movie...I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...Comment

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Finally saw this on Friday. It was pretty good, not as good as the first one. Far too many "jokes" in this installment for my liking. The twin robots were funny at first but grew tiresome rather quickly. The little robot humping Fox's leg was a bit cheesy as well.
Dissapointed with Devastator. He pretty much fought the little twin robots for 2 minutes and then got blown away by the Navy gun thingamajig.
The Leo character (the college roommate with the website) was a waste of time. He brought nothing to the movie.
Things I look for in the 3rd movie:
Starscream not being a little bitch.
More Soundwave!
Dinobots!
Zoom out the cameras during the fight scenes. it's too hard to tell what's going on half the time.
Give Decepticon armor different colors besides gray. It's too hard to tell who's who.Comment

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I really liked the first movie. This one had me wanting to leave the theatre an hour in, though after that it got better. I couldn't stand the childish humor they had... the whole college thing could've been left out. Mom and her special brownies was annoying, college roommate was annoying/useless. They should just stick to Shia LeBouf making the jokes. I did like when he had a little faceoff with the two frat kids.
But yeah, with the size and strength of these machines, you'd think the battles would be more epic. It seems like they had an hour of crap then they were like, oh snap, we need to actually start telling the story now and so everything was rushed from then on.
I thought Fox looked worse in this one. I think they tried too hard to make her this big sex symbol instead of just letting her shine by herself (like she did in the first one, though my memory may be a bit fuzzy).
I know it's a movie and Fox/LeBouf are the heroes, but they got thrown around a ton and never seemed to take any 'damage' from it (until the very end).
I just think this movie was way too rushed. I'm not even a big movie critic guy, but maybe I'm starting to become one because this left something to be desired.
I had originally planned to rent it when it came out on DVD instead of the $10.50 (times 2) it costs to see it in theatres, even if it had gotten great reviews. But shelling out that money for a movie that really just capitalized on the first movie's success/the license pissed me off a bit...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Yeah, thought this movie was great. Liked it just as much as the first, maybe more than the first. Got exactly what I wanted out of it - great special effects and a kickass Optimus Prime!!!
Can't wait for the blu-ray ... this is going to rock my entire house!Comment
