Taking it personal, eh? Well since you spoke up, yes I thought your interpretation was ignorant. This isn't TDK no matter how much you or anyone else wants it to be. Comparing every aspect of the movie to the way it was done in another movie makes you look misinformed and there's no place for that. Honestly I don't care what you think about it, just letting you know.

Maybe I'm being misunderstood. My point is, treat this as its own story. Much like the comics, certain situations change each character and the way they react to things. This was no different. I just have this suspicion that too many wanted it to be better than TDK and because they didn't understand the overall story, were let down. I personally knew it couldn't live up to The Joker's performance and I was completely blown away. I apologize if I offended anyone.

Not sure what part of my synopsis lead you to believe I didn't understand the story or that I wanted it to be exactly like TDK, but judging by your first comment, you just pick and chose what you wanted to read, but the lack of growth in developing the themes that progressed through the first two, was my biggest gripe, not that I wanted it to be exactly like the first two. Read. Even then, that was about 1/8th of what my issues were with this film.

Either way, it was a personal opinion which if you missed it, was one that echoed the way a few others felt in this thread, which means you would be calling those ignorant as well.

Last time I checked, this forum was a place for discussion, not one sided cynicism. I'm glad other people loved it. I wasn't trying to ruin it for anyone, but personally I left unsatisfied. If my overall feeling on the movie effected you in some negative way, than who was the one taking it personal?

I never attacked anyone's beliefs in here, like what you did. This isn't the place for that.

I think shooting the film away from chicago hurt the film........There was almost no mention of the locations used in the Begins or TDK. I think that took away from the immersion factor. Plus the "Time" element of the bomb seemed "rushed" and forced into the movie...take the cops tracking the trucks for example...IDK I loved the movie but the little annoyances kept a 9/10 from being a 10/10

The scene with Alfred and Bruce regarding Rachel was the best scene of the entire trilogy for me.

Sooo um yea, I made this comment a few weeks back with some predictions on the film...

After looking at that video on the bottom of the page, I still think "John Blake" may become Robin at the END of the film. It just makes too much sense after reading the viral marketing on Blake being a "Rogue" cop and all. Ya know, the same name of Gotham's football team with the "R" symbol.

Yes I know Nolan says he'd never have Robin in his films, but he was skeptical about Catwoman and it seems Selina Kyle's character will fit nicely into Nolan's universe. I just have this strong hunch the ending of this film coming full circle by having Blake become Robin, Catwoman being an anti-hero, and Talia al Ghul (Tate) becoming the love Bruce thought he lost with the death of Rachel. At least then, Nolan will have introduced most main characters in the Batman comics while also not directing the movie with the character of Robin as a cheesy plot point. And if another director wants to pick up from there, then that's their prerogative.

Maybe I wasn't 100% right, but I hit on a few spoilers (Blake becoming Robin at the end, Blake's reputation as a Rogue cop, Catwoman becoming a hero, Bruce having a thing for Talia, etc.

Some great, well thought out reviews in here. I saw it Friday night and really enjoyed it. I loved Hardy's performance as Bane. I think he did a great job, considering his face was three-quarters covered. I loved the accent, as well. I really liked Hathaway's Selina Kyle, as well. My biggest gripes were the weird time passages and never being shown how the hell Bruce made it back to Gotham. Overall, though, it was a really good movie and a well done conclusion to Nolan's trilogy. Can't wait to get it on BR.

I seen it and loved it. I really think that with Heath doing what he did kind of hurt the film and do believe that if he was still alive the plot would of been totally different however I am very happy with what they did with it. The time skips did throw off the movie in some ways but overall I liked it.

I think with Blake they left it open for either Robin or Batman.

1. They hinted at the whole Robin being part of his name, yes that could just be a easter egg or it could be a hint at who he will be.

2.Bruce repaired the Bat Signal. This is what I think is the most interesting part. It could be branched out into one of two things.
-------2a. Either Blake will become Batman and Bruce repaired the signal for him.
or
-------------2b. There will be a Batman that will be training Blake as a Robin.

Now this has some branches as well for them to go with. Some of the other scenes can aslo make it seem other wise, one of them would be at the end Alfred goes to that cafe and sees Bruce and Kyle there. When Alfred was telling Bruce about his dream it was involving Bruce giving up the bat to live his life and move on. I think this is a big chunk of information that is given. It would also depend on whether or not Bale comes back as Batman. Im pretty sure he has stated that he wasnt going to be but you never know.

I believe that they left the ending open for a bunch of different ways to either start a new Batman story and maybe thats Nolans gift to WB/DC to give them a starting point for the Justice League movie for Batman.

Theres 3 Branches that they could reasonably go with:

1. Blake picks up Batman, Bruce retires.
2. Blake is Robin, Bruce trains him and they both are the Dynamic Duo.
3. Heres where a lot of thought process comes into play. With the film being technology heavy (new Bat flyer, the power source, etc) there is a possibility they could go the Beyond rout. You wouldnt need Bale back for this since he would be Aged a bit more so that gives you a way to hire a older actor as the "retired" batman. JGL IMO would blow open that role as Batman Betond. The dudes body size is almost spot on for that character. As for the time skip you could always state that Gotham after Bane went through more peace time. Only thing I think is holding this idea back is if they want it tying in with the Justice League movie.



IMO I think with the Alfred scene popping up in the end it will be Blake taking up the Batman and Bruce retiring. Also since I really dont think Bale is coming back however I would love if they went with the beyond rout.

Yeah I agree for me in all Comic Book movies so far it was Ledgers' Joker in the last film. He absolutely did not care who died and was all about destruction and chaos. Where as Bane and other villains seam to have cared about someone or had a personal agenda or was out for revenge for a lost love ( Two Face), even Jack Nicholsons' Joker had a love interest in the beginning of the movie before setting his eyes on Vicki Vale.

Pretty much what I expected. Very good, but my first reaction is the first two are a bit better. No shame in that, because the first two set the bar extremely high. I'll probably go see it again.

This isn't aimed to any OS'er (in fact, I doubt any OS'er who has ever entered this thread is in this category), but there are many people who have seen The Dark Knight and haven't seen Batman Begins. That, or you could be like my dad who has seen BB at least five times, and forgets it so much that he forgets Batman actually rebooted as well.

That said, with The Dark Knight Rises being a trilogy finale and connecting back to the beginning so well, I wonder how many casual moviegoers might automatically dismiss it by not understanding it on the same level, simply because they haven't seen Batman Begins.
