Furthermore, they claim that the villain of the piece is The Riddler and that Arkham Asylum will feature heavily in the story. Apparently several other classic Bat-villains will cameo – including The Penguin and Mr. Freeze (although only in his Dr. Fries incarnation).
      Sounds pretty cool.
I wonder if they're going to mimic what the video game accomplished.
Is it going to be a survival film? I think that would be pretty cool, but I'm not sure how it'll be received by the general public.

Re: Batman 3 news and rumors.

Very interesting. Again, I only hope that this stays as much in the Nolan universe as possible. Never did anyone think they could make The Dark Knight as good as it was while still creating just a very realistic atmosphere outside of two costumed foes. I only hope they can do the same with Arkham and The Riddler, and I hope that if The Riddler has his own dark edge and craziness, it is completely separate from The Joker character.

Personally, I would like to see something kind of along the lines of a Simon Gruber-like character where his riddles (though less cheesy and... better) are a diversion for some reason or another. He doesn't have to wear some outrageous green costume, and he doesn't have to be some uber-complex character. Furthermore, he could be seen as a bit less of a villain of Batman and more of a villain to society or the police, etc. I don't know much of these villains in past comic iterations and such, but again... I just really like what Nolan did with The Dark Knight (as well as Batman Begins), and hope this still stays very well within his universe. I don't doubt he'll do that, but we'll see where this goes.

And it would be the most awesome thing ever if they had recorded some footage of Heath Ledger's Joker in Arkham during The Dark Knight, and they use it for this movie. Oh God, that would be brilliant!

I have to be honest that some of Batman's outlandish gadgets in TDK had me rolling my eyes.

I hope this one goes back to Batman Begins where it's more of Bruce Wayne's strength of courage, brains and brawn that save the day - not Agent 007 type gadgets.

Probably mostly referring to the sonar stuff, but he also uses the facial recognition software to match fragmented bullets and re-render the image for fingerprint analysis, which I thought was kind of odd.

Personally, I also want to see Batman not do his disappearing trick this time. It's kind of weird that, aside from the fact it doesn't seem like he could just sneak out of somewhere that easily, he would vanish while an ally of his is in mid-sentence, perhaps with vital information even.

This video is pretty funny though:

And the final gadget of hacking into all the cellphones to give him a sonar ability.

To me they felt way over the top.
And I know, I know. It's a movie about a guy in a bat suit. But I felt the first film was far more grounded in realism than the 2nd.

There were quite a few things in TDK that felt overly "comic-booky" to me.

I still consider Batman Begins to be the better of the two films.

Re: Batman 3 news and rumors.

I don't see anywhere in there that it can drag and propel people from long distances.

I see the distinction you've tried to make, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
In the first film, when Batman had to obtain his mark, he used the shadows, cunning and fear to get the job done.
It seems like in TDK he just invents some crazy gadget to do the work for him.
It's like things tipped far too much towards the SuperFriends scale in the 2nd film.

I just want him to be far more grounded and believable in the 3rd movie. Because I swear if I see him pull out Shark repellent from his belt , I'm walking out.

And to be fair to you, Freeman mentions the "SkyHook" program in TDK, so you had the right name.

I like the idea of taking Bats to Arkham and such but I don't want the movie to mimic the "survival horror" genre too much. It's not really my thing and while it could be done very well from a psychological perspective I don't want to come out of the movie being thoroughly depressed.

Everything Nolan has done regarding Batman has turned to gold so i'll trust him if that's the direction they're going in. I wonder if we'll see Harleen Quinzel?
