Now that I wouldn't mind. As Ehh said, you can add in a dubbed laugh from TDK.

I actually really like that idea, the people will need to know how their favorite villain is doing and that's great way to do it. It puts the joker in jail but it also shows that he knows and we should know that he is probably getting out of jail with that laugh of his

Re: Batman 3 news and rumors.

Really is pointless to have the Joker involved in any way with the 3rd film. Unless it forwards the plot what's the point of showing a cameo image just to appease the fanboys. The Joker was too big a part of TDK for the character to be seen as an afterthought in the new film just for shock value. The fact that everyone would know it was not Heath would be a distraction to the film itself. I didn't agree with the Scarecrow cameo in TDK because it weakened the impact of his character in Begins because he looked feeble in TDK by being dealt with so easily.

Its point was to show how far along Batman has come, and it worked.

Yeah, but it just didn't feel like the same role Murphy played in BB. As a matter of fact, by voice alone under the mask, I almost thought it wasn't him. I think he could have done a better job.

Plus he is taking a break from acting for awhile. I doubt he would want to play the role anyway. I mean what actor would wanna follow Heath?

                Exactly.

And he's taking a break? That's a shame - he really improved a lot in the movies that he was in this year (hilarious in Pineapple Express, very good in Milk).

I definitely agree. That cameo was definitely weak-sauce all the way around.

I don't think the role will be offered to him, but I think his break would end real quick if it were. Plus this thing won't go into production until 2010 anyways.

The movie is still fresh for us, but if they wanted to recast the Joker they could. Not to take away from what Ledger did, but if they brought in an actor that could act it out well I'm sure the character would be fine. The Joker is just a great character, not a character played by a great actor. If they found the right person he could easily be a great character in any Batman 3. I don't think they'll go in that direction though so it's moot anyways.

Totally disagree. The Joker on film is a great character based on what? Nicholson and Cesar Romero hamming it up. What made Ledger's Joker one of a kind was the the mannerisms and nuances he perfected that made it appear that the Joker was a very unstable person and Ledger LIVED the character, he didn't portray him. It was obvious he was meticulous in how his Joker would be brought to life from the ground up and totally reinvented the character and to simply have that copied by another actor would be akin to having somebody attempt to copy Brando's Vito Corleone character for a Godfather remake.

For anybody to attempt to recreate the Joker for a 3rd film would be an exercise in futility but to nominate Franco to do that would be disasterous as from the performances I've seen of him shows that he is as wooden an actor there is out there and playing a druggie in a comedy hardly earns him the acting chops to even attempt copying Ledger's Joker. It would be akin to George Hamilton attempting to resuscitate the aforementioned Vito Corleone character.

Surprised you didn't say Ben Foster should be cast as the Joker and Riddler in the same movie.

Touche. All I want is credit for my prediction when Foster gets chosen to be the Riddler if Nolan does go the Riddler route. I remember reading an interview where Bale was very enamoured by Foster's preparation and performance in 3:10 to Yuma and Nolan and Bale are close friends and I'm sure Nolan values Bale's opinion so there's a good chance he's on the short list right now. If you read up on how Foster prepared for his role in Alpha Dog you'll see an actor who is very similar to Ledger and Bale in going above and beyond the call of duty in preparing for a role.

Those are the kinds of actors that Nolan seems to like based on his affiliation with Bale and his outside the box thinking with Ledger. In other words actors that are "not all there" and Foster fits the bill and as well as having the right look.

For the record, Foster would be an excellent choice for the Riddler. He's an amazing actor, so I agree with you on that. He'd definitely fit right in and make a good Nigma.
