Or it can be like Spider-Man where someone like Harry or Brock become their villainous characters in a matter of minutes, instantly knowing everything there is to know about supernaturalism that took Peter Parker years to master. And to think a slim girl like Hathaway can plop in there and double as some normal love interest (or whatever she'll be) as well as a Kung Fu fighting bad-*** in a cat suit. I say that unrealisticness stops at Batman. But I trust Nolan and practically ensure he'll be doing the right thing with it anyway.

Call me the biggest sexist in the universe but I really don't want to see Catwoman in any Dark Knight film.

I'm upset. Hopefully this "fresh take" on Catwoman is successful.

Is there a reason you don't want her in other than the fact that she's a woman?

This will be awesome. And a female character can easily dominate a bunch of dudes with her quickness and agility, which is what Catwoman is all about.

Besides... it's Nolan... it will be pure money.

Some of the reasons Blzer posted and I also said earlier in the thread that I just don't find that villian to be engaging on any level nor threatening.

Not to mention that with what Bruce has already gone through in the first two films, a Catwoman storyline seems like a piece of cake compared to the previous villians

Now I am intrigued with Nolan saying he would only bring her in if he could have a fresh take. So we'll see.

That would make the character too campy if she is simply portrayed as a sex kitten so to speak and totally goes against Nolan's film methods. That's why mentioning Biel is humourous because if you want Catwoman to be simply someone who looks the best in a tight outfit then you might as well start remaking the Burton movies again because acting ability doesn't count obviously.

                .
Why you gotta be like that?

But yes I don't expect we will see black leather like in Batman Returns. I do expect she will wear something tight.

She is, after all, Batman's love interest in the comics. If she doesn't play up her sexuality a lot of the character is lost.

                  Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I could be reading too much into this but the press release said Hathaway is playing Selina Kyle while Hardy is playing Bane. Notice how they mention Catwoman by her real name but don't use Bane's real name so maybe this could mean that a new reimagined character of Selina Kyle is in the movie as Batman's love interest and not the Catwoman character. That would be a fresh take and would be preferable for me. Makes sense because having to explain 2 villain backstories will take up way too much of the movie.

Catwoman's threat has never been on a state of alert/crisis level like say The Joker or other major Batman villains and this is what sets her apart from the others. Her threat comes from her ability (aka sexuality) to make Bruce Wayne want to be Batman 24/7 so he can knock her bottom out on a daily basis. Obviously Catwoman plays on Bruce's internal struggles more than simply devising a scheme to bring Gotham to their knees.

Why does every villain need a back story? Scarecrow was already there or at least 95% there in Batman Begins. Ra's was just as mysterious. The Joker had none. Really, the only "villain" that has had a truly dedicated back-story has been Harvey Two-Face. They exist because Batman exists.

With that said, I don't see why a lot of back story needs to be devoted to Selina or Bane anyway. Catwoman's introduction in the comics was pretty damn simple and could be done adequately in a film in about 5 minutes. Bane's could be just as simple too.

A character's back story doesn't necessarily have to be thrust out in the beginning of the film; it can interwoven in their actions and motivations throughout the film.

I don't expect her to don a catsuit. Something slim? Yes. Something black? Yes, but nothing close to Batman Returns or Catwoman. I could see Selina being a member of elite Gotham (and therefore set up a connection to Bruce Wayne), but still have her being a cat-burglar by either have her steal from the mob or from Gotham's elite. Plus, Catwoman's more agile and gymnastically oriented than being a fighter.

I think that goes without saying.

What I was saying was compared to all of the other threats and problems he's overcome in the first two films, I just don't buy him getting "seduced" or what have you by some broad. I don't buy him letting himself get distracted to the point where it would cause too much mayhem.
