The Dark Knight Rises - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

Harvey Dent/Two-Face is dead. Only way we'll see him in the next movie is if they show cuts back to the events during TDK.

I never understood that though. Batman survived the fall off the docks but Two Face didn't. Plus Batman had already been shot by Two Face just before they fell off.

Two-Face was pushed off and had no suit to protect him. Nevertheless, according to the script Two-Face is dead.

Besides, what are you going to do with him? He kind of fulfilled what it is he wanted to do in terms of exacting vengeance on others whom he deemed responsible (or kind of not with Batman). Even if he could wake up, he's still every bit as human as he once was. No coin flips in the world will get him any further into killing him than before. Plus, it would be redundantly annoying.

Catwoman. simply because they can play off the tension between the two of them sans costume (and with actually). But i don't think that would qualify her the main Villain of the story. More Character conflict for Bruce than anything.

Either way the Riddler and Catwoman would be the only two that could really fit into Nolan's vision of Batman without drastic changes. You couldn't really fit Ivy, Freeze or Clayface into this world without making changes that i don't think the fanbase would like.

I dunno, I am kinda getting sick of the Johnny Depp stick, I would much rather have an previous unknown actor and villian.

Like Clayface or Killer Croc or Bane. Something that hasnt been done well in the movies.

Or recast the joker..... I dont think it would be that bad of a move.

There's zero percent chance that happens.

I wouldn't be opposed to The Riddler, but I would like to see another villain that isn't entirely well known to the general Batman fans. I don't think they need another major villain in #3 since, correct me if I'm wrong, Batman will essentially be a villain at the start of the next movie.

Considering Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks a lot like Heath Ledger and is in Inception, I can't help but think Nolan may have this in mind. I don't know if The Joker would be a main villain, but just some quick shots of him in Arkham or something would be nice.

The coolest thing would be if they have some stock footage of Ledger's Joker left on the cutting room floor that they can use. Can you imagine what kind of uproar the crowd would give for a cameo appearance like that? That would be amazing!

I've seen Black Mask thrown around a lot as a villain idea, and I agree with that. I think we have to take the focus off the villain again and let him tie in closely with the mob while Batman/Bruce Wayne gets his time in the spotlight again, perhaps dealing with internal conflicts whatever they may be.

But I have no doubt that Nolan will perfect this movie, even if I have to wait until 2013 to see it.

Blzer, you stole the Black Mask right out of my mouth. I think both him and Catwoman would be perfect considering the whole mob storyline........and even Penguin would be good too as he is a gangster. I just hope they continue down the same path with the story arc that has already been set from the first two films.
