That's my thinking as well. Ra's was "immortal" in the sense that it is simply a title. A "young" Ra's doesn't necessarily mean its the same character.

Nestor Carbonell is in talks to return and reprise his role as the Mayor of Gotham.

Would be great to have him back, he's a fantastic actor.

I don't know if this has already been posted, but here... we... go. Basically just officializes that JGL and Cotillard are in it, and says who they'll be playing.

Warner Bros. has announced the official casting of Oscar winner Marion Cotillard and Joseph-Gordon Levitt in Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, described as “a Wayne Industries board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne [played by Christian Bale] resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.” Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, described as “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon [played by Gary Oldman].” Both actors appeared in Nolan’s 2010 smash Inception. They’ll join Anne Hathaway (playing Selina Kyle) and fellow Inception alum Tom Hardy (playing the villain Bane), who were formally cast in January.

What the hell....

Well that changes things. It might actually be for the better though. I'm just surprised the rumors of Talia Al Ghul and Alberto Falcone didn't turn out to be true. I'm not sure if this rules them out of the movie completely or not.

I feel the same way. Taken aback by this news...but want to see how this plays out before deciding anything.

Okay, after giving it some time to sink in, I'm calling BS on "Miranda Tate," as it seems like Jett from Batman on Film is holding off on doing it public.

She's definitely Talia. Has to be, even if Miranda Tate is the name she uses to get hired by Wayne so she can get close to him. Miranda gets hired, gets close to Wayne and the business as the "up and comer" and then we see a flashback with a younger Ra's with his daughter. Bam.

I don't know whether to believe JGL's character, either.

Nice, I hope this animated feature will be faithful to the source material. Batman: Year One is one of the best Batman stories ever IMO.

Nice, I hope this animated feature will be faithful to the source material. Batman: Year One is one of the best Batman stories ever IMO.

I'm probably going to be ordering it off of Amazon sometime soon. Just have to get a hold of someone I know that doesn't mind paying for things online like I do.
